They have always appealed to me, I see them as a form of artistic escapism. Movies where there to comfort me when my parents did not.

What was the first movie that you remember watching? i don't rly remember..the first movie i remember Really enjoying though was the dark knight (2008)..but that's mainly because i was a batman nerd as a kid (still am.)
Any favorite directors? wes anderson (generic..ik)
What is your favorite and least favorite trope? my favorite trope is mad scientist..i love those crazy fellas. my least favorite trope is "generic person takes the crown/realizes they're special/etc. it's just overused and almost always sucks.
What's a movie mistake you can never unsee? crazy and or harmful stereotypes..unless it's for satirical reasons i don't like it and always spot it immediately. 
Why do you like movies? because of how easy it is to connect with others. humans are naturally social beings, and art is meaningful when it connects through someone else.

I don’t have a strong preference.

What was the first movie that you remember watching?
Probably Air Bud or another dog-related movie like Underdog, Hotel for Dogs, or Cats Vs. Dogs. I really liked dogs as a kid lol. I remember watching Batman (1989) on tape as the first PG-13 movie I ever saw.

Any favorite directors?
David Lynch, Charlie Chaplin, probably a few more that I can’t think of at the moment.

What is your favorite and least favorite trope?
I can’t think of a favorite trope at the moment, maybe something with space and time travel? My least favorite trope is a lesbian character who is a menace or acts mentally unstable in general.

What's a movie mistake you can never unsee?
I remember watching a movie from the 50’s or 60’s and a suitcase fell on one of the actors by accident. I don’t even remember what it was called, but it was so funny to me that they kept it in. Film was expensive back then!

Why do you like movies?
It probably started with my grandma showing my brother and I movies as little kids. My life changed when I saw The Truman Show.

Do you have a favorite actor? What makes them stand out?
I love Willem DaFoe! He’s such a good actor with such a wide range of characters. I also love David Byrne in all of his movies.

I can’t pick one favorite… my top four on Letterboxd are Stop Making Sense, The Truman Show, Howl’s Moving Castle, and But I’m a Cheerleader. These are the movies I rewatch over and over.

One of the earliest I can remember is Flushed Away which is still super nostalgic for me
David Lynch, John Waters, Coen brothers, Gaspar Noé, Gregg Araki and Wes Anderson are some of my favourites
I am a sucker for final girls in horror and I haven’t thought a ton about least favourite tropes
the paper in the dude’s pocket in the big lebowski being crumpled and then uncrumpled one scene later 
Why do you like movies? It’s such a diverse medium that can be extremely fun or emotional or philosophical, tons of films have had really profound effects on my worldview 
my letterboxd is Whatsername07 !!
favourite actor: Laura Dern goes underrated a lot of the time, she’s an absolute force to be reckoned with especially in Inland Empire with her facial expressions (honourable mention to Colin Farrell also)
either Funeral Parade of Roses or Mulholland Drive is my favourite film !!!

Hiya my names Artemis but most people call me Art/Artie! I use they/them pronouns and I love what stories we can tell through the beautiful medium of movies! I really dont remember what was the first movie I watched (cut me some slack I was 3!!), but going to the theaters with my parents from a young age really opened my mind to what movies can do. I dont have a Letterboxd or any dedicated social media account pertaining to movies (Id be REALLY annoying if I did), but even 1-3 months I do post a review on my Spacehey blog if its a movie I really like/have a strong connection to. If you check my profile you can see some of my fave movies and shows (obvs I have more but those are like my top choices). Anyway its very nice to meet yall!!

What is your favorite and least favorite trope?
Favorite: I’m a sucker for melodramatic longing, especially in a city. Essentially every single WKW movie, lost in translation. This is tied with pessimistic late 90s crime thrillers. Cure, Se7en, Lost Highway, I love it. Memories of Murder is 2003 but is an honorary member of the category. 

Least favorite: Joss Whedon dialogue… the real thing is bad enough and the fact that every other writer of a major movie tries to replicate it has been disastrous for anything that has a remotely lighthearted tone.

Bad lighting or lensing

As an artform movies can convey story and meaning in a way no other can

My name is Sara. My pronouns are she/her. I don't remember the first movie I ever watched but it was probably a Disney princess movie XD My favorite director would probably have to be Tim Burton I just love anything spooky but I can't forget Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick. Favorite genre of movie is psychological thriller and my least fav would have to be rlly long romance movies that have 0 angst. I haven't really seen any "movie mistakes". I love movies because I get to step out of my own reality and enter a world in which somebody else created. I have so many favorite actors but the three that pop up in my head are Al Pacino, Angelina Jolie, and Leonardo DiCaprio. My favorite movie is probably Interview with a Vampire.

not necessarily a "mistake" but i find bad wigs really upsetting! pluck the hairline or something, it's just not acceptable!

this is very basic, but i love the escapism of it all! movies have gotten me through so many very tough times in my life where i felt like i had nothing. but effedupmovies dot com was always there for me <3

What's your favorite movie?
my favorite movie of all time is either may or (the original) candyman! may was one of the first movies i had seen that i felt accurately represented the lonely mentally ill shut-in experience i had in my teens and early twenties. candyman i just love because there are so many layers of meaning in the film and it's such a ~rich text~. the director somehow found the perfect balance of corny early 90s cashgrab horror and this like deeply erotic forbidden romance storyline.

Why do you like movies? im an aspiring actress and writer, i love movies because they can tell such a compelling story to the point where they can make us as humans feel such emotions, we can feel the characters pain and happiness. theyre a form of art that just show the amount of creativity the human brain can hold and how we should share that creativity

Do you have a favorite actor? What makes them stand out? i like a lot of actors but my number one is hayden christensen. i believe hes been so wronged by hollywood and the general audience, if only people looked at his filmography beyond star wars </3. his eyes stand out the most to me. i believe that within acting they eyes tell much more of the story than the dialouge does and what a fantastic job hayden does at selling the story with his eyes, especially in "awake" and "life as a house"

What pronouns should we use for you? - Anything really, but she/her is typically the default is she/her given I was female at birth.

What was the first movie that you remember watching? - Hunchback of Notre Dame!

Any favorite directors? - Kubrick and Lindsay Anderson

What is your favorite and least favorite trope? - No particular tropes, just any movie that feels like a regurgitation of a million movies before it.

What's a movie mistake you can never unsee? - hen all the female characters are fluttery and fragile. Pretty common in 60s - 70s movies, which is understandable given the time period, but it's hard not to be bothered by it.

Why do you like movies? - They inspire me to make things. :)

Do you have a favorite actor? What makes them stand out? - I've got a few: John Hurt, Malcolm Mcdowell, Emilio Estevez, and Walton Goggins. I like them, for one, because they're cute, but also because they've got lots of range and are very talented. Typically, they're the best part of any "bad" movie they're in.

I honestly cant say for sure what my first movie was but what comes to mind is The Poltergeist (but tbh it was prob a disney movie like princess and the frog) 
Jordan Peele and David Lynch are 2 of my fav directors.
Omg i HATE the nerd to popular/pretty girl trope in movies but im also just not a fan of romance or drama movies like that. They always make me feel mad at the characters.
I honestly couldn tell you what my fav trope is but i like when horror movies have like an eldritch or lovecraftian kind of entity that is unpredictable (like the necronomicon from evil dead)
i really dont remember a mistake that i thought was hillarious.
I love movies because something about them has just always spoke to me, just taking an idea and making it a creative masterpiece has always been something i want to do.
This is the only place i talk about movies tbh but i might make something on other socials later
No fav actor, there would be too many to count
My fav movie rn is between Evil Dead Rise and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Any favorite directors?: John Waters, Frank Henenlotter, Jane Schoenbrun, Yorgos Lanthimos. Directors are kind of my blind spot which is a bit embarrassing to say as a movie fan but I hope to explore more like Agnes Varda or Orson Welles
What is your favorite and least favorite trope?: I can't think of any favorites :p However I can't deal with a movie that focuses solely on homages from greater films, feels tacky personally.
Why do you like movies?: It's cliche but I just enjoy the magic that is witnessing a movie that brought so many people together to work on a singular idea. You get the chance to experience worlds or experiences that you would never get to see otherwise, and brings you closer to people.
Do you have any movie-related social media for us to follow you on? (Letterboxd, a dedicated blog or twitter account, etc!): I have a letterboxd, dont_panic04, sometimes I'll write full blown reviews other times it's like a diary
Do you have a favorite actor? What makes them stand out?: I love Paul Dano, Matt Damon, and George MacKay. They're all pretty versatile actors, and I find them to be underestimated by general audiences. They have a clear love for the craft.
What's your favorite movie?: The Talented Mr. Ripley is my absolute favorite! I've watched it multiple times, bought the CD from Goodwill, perused any and every little review, podcast, anything where people talked about it. It's a wonderful adaptation and one of the films you could call nearly perfect.

I honestly cant say for sure what my first movie was but what comes to mind is The Poltergeist (but tbh it was prob a disney movie like princess and the frog) 
Jordan Peele and David Lynch are 2 of my fav directors.
Omg i HATE the nerd to popular/pretty girl trope in movies but im also just not a fan of romance or drama movies like that. They always make me feel mad at the characters.
I honestly couldn tell you what my fav trope is but i like when horror movies have like an eldritch or lovecraftian kind of entity that is unpredictable (like the necronomicon from evil dead)
i really dont remember a mistake that i thought was hillarious.
I love movies because something about them has just always spoke to me, just taking an idea and making it a creative masterpiece has always been something i want to do.
This is the only place i talk about movies tbh but i might make something on other socials later
No fav actor, there would be too many to count
My fav movie rn is between Evil Dead Rise and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Willem Dafoe. He stands out because he is Willem Dafoe.

Favourite trope - Main characters switching halfway through a movie (eg. the village)

Least favourite trope - is when a character overhears a conversation and applies it to themselves

What's a movie mistake you can never unsee?
Not really a mistake more of a retcon but, the line in the first Monsters inc where Mike says "You've been jealous of my looks since the 4th grade", then they first meet in college.

Why do you like movies?
It lets me escape for a short time, and its kinda the same reason why i think people like dreams. You can do whatever you want in your dreams, you can fly, and meet the love of your life. You can do all of this in films!!

- I think maybe Benny's Bathtub. Its this amazing 70's danish childrens movie and the drawings in it are just so hippie and good and funky.

- Im kind of biased but probably Ingmar Bergman or Sofia Coppola.

- My favorite trope is a good old love triangle and my least favorite is probably the chase scene.

What's a movie mistake you can never unsee?
- That in Bohemian Rhapsody they show the band Queen playing a song from 1978 when the movie shows them playing on tour in 1974.

- I love the way that a movie can inspire. The way that it creates a human emotion from nothing and/or a lie. The way we as humans create art and stories around other humans only for other humans entertainment.

What is your favorite and least favorite trope?: favorite: 4th wall breaks are fun , i love anti heroes and i adore when horror movies look something completly different from the star. least favorite: the slasher characters who are supposed to feel bad for when they are so flat that you know they will die and fuck forced rolationships, the kissing scenes mean nothing to me.
