Young millennial so getting oldish
I haven't been using a specific micro tendency label. Used to lean more anarchist, now lean more Marxist or post-Marxist. I still have so much to learn but I think there are times nuance is important but also appearing to take a one-sided stance is sometimes necessary when people are engaged in a sort of fake / bad faith sort of "nuance". This can be a very difficult line when it comes to arguing leftists haha

As a Gen Xer, I can honestly say I'm an Indie. I have never voted for a "party". I can see the reason why so many Millennials vote far left or communist. You've been given no choice. I think I was in the last years of schools only lightly indoctrinating these ideas. Throughout all pop-culture the narrative is good to hold these values. I can't be frustrated by it. You know nothing else and I can't suggest much of anything. ( for instance it does no good to suggest investigating ideas other than majority rule to some ) I don't think it will "turn out" the way it was sold. Nothing ever is with Government. Government itself carries with it a very ideological lie.

Millenial, former Repub-now-registered-Independent who voted for Obama (both times as a registered Rep), Hillary, and Biden. Wanted Bernie. Always voted for who I felt represented what was more important. I've always been political and called myself a "fiscal republican" for most of the time and thought maybe these people that I had similar political views would see how hateful and unworkable their policies were and then Sept 2019, I couldn't take it anymore and changed my party affiliation to "Independent" to vote in the Democratic Primary to try and get Bernie on the Ballot and in the White House. But anywho, love reading these comments.

I personally sit more toward a libertarian marxist position, but I am really open to hearing about other points of view.

I'm an old leftist - just popping in for solidarity's sake.
Going by some of the comments here, people don't get left: Biden is not "left". And YES, I voted for him, he was our most viable option for getting Combover Caligula out. But he's actually more than a bit right of center,
Take a few minutes to explore here. Some of you may be surprised:

I'm not sure where I would peg myself on the political spectrum. Given what I have witnessed in the past twenty years of my life, I have to say that I am skeptical (at best) of consensus politics - internationalism, neoconservatism, open borders, free trade deals, etc. Of course that sort of skepticism isn't necessarily shared by those just on the left; I'm aware that there's a VERY online contingent of right wingers who share those apprehensions to some degree. I wouldn't say that I am a leftist because the idea of revolution resulting in positive change is utopian. I'm more of a social democrat; a New Deal Democrat but without a particularly strong identification with the Democrats.

cool thread. i personally think classifications and labels while useful can be tricky and make it difficult to communicate with pissed off people on the other side what ideals you actually stand for when all they know is irrational skews, lies, or dramatic political events and eras that are tied to certain terms. i guess its good to be a leftist or progressive but even on twitter i see leftist coming to be the new term that is starting to get hijacked the way liberal was, but maybe that's just the natural result of terms getting recognition and getting bigger or movements aging and having normal human problems? idk.

I've identified as leftist for what seems like nearly two years now and I'm still not sure where I lie. At any given moment I can be anywhere between ancom and demsoc.

Anarchist here, but maybe more left communist, communalist or municipalist. I've been greatly influenced by the especially German and Dutch Autonomist movement and inspired by the Kurdish approach to direct democracy.
