Anyone considering or are in a gap year after high school before university? I’d love to have one but pressure from my parents and the dread of wasting a year is just eating its way into my head this past summer.

i wish i would have taken a gap year. i’m entering my second year of college going into a major very uncertainly. i still don’t know if i want to do what i’m going for. i think gap years are nothing but beneficial if you spend it staying busy. working a full time job for a year can get you some money for tuition or moving out, and it’ll help you find your interests for a potential career. i wish i would have taken the time to really find out what i want to do.

I'm taking a gap year for health after I graduate. I might take 2 but idk yet

I definitely recommend it if you can, i took a year to just try out new things and do stuff i like and i feel like a whole new person. It can help you learn alot about yourself if you try things and explore interests without too much pressure. Its also good for mental health, even if you're working, spending time with friends and trying to get out and enjoy life is needed.
If youre trying to decided what you want to do in your life through what you study in college, for alot of ppl it would be great having some real word experience outside of school and more time to thinking about it for sure
