General Taiwan/ROC Thread 🇹🇼

Just a general thread for all things Taiwan/ROC, mostly political-themed.

As much as discussion is welcome, I'd like to bring out a few rules/guidelines as to avoid possible drama in the thread.

1. If you want to undermine Taiwan's sovereignty, then leave the thread and make your own. 
2. Parroting pro-PRC propaganda is not really a thing you should do here.
3. Both Blue and Green crowds are welcome. Please however do not undermine the current reality of Taiwan (i.e. don't scream around about the existence of Republic of Taiwan, it isn't a thing. Discussing about possible outcomes of the independence/naming discourse is welcome.)
4. English only, to all of you Chinese speakers.
5. Respect, respect, respect. This one is for you, conservative crowd. Taiwan is pretty pro-LGBT so keep that in mind and keep your prejudice for your circlejerk.

For an icebreaker question to all folk familiar- In the shadow of war in Ukraine there has been a lot of discussion surrounding military training of TWese civillians just in case..., especially regarding the fact that reserves don't get as much training as they need to.

Bonus question to US folk: Do you think the US Army should defend Taiwan just in case or do you prefer leaving it on its own?
