my favorite indie game has to be crosscode
imagine an "mmo"rpg game with some cool pixel art, banger music (you'll catch me jammin' to the song that plays when you have combat rank s), and stellar gameplay (it's a good length, and balances action and puzzle). it's also taken inspiration from of course, mmorpg tropes (such as trading areas, dungeons, and more), as well as devil may cry.
hell I haven't finished this game yet, but I'm praising it like it's xronier by camellia (sound voltex song)

There is the classic saying that "dying is easy. comedy is hard." But darn if West of Loathing doesn't make it seem so easy.
It's a turn based, small time tactics RPG with a western theme that pokes fun at all of inspirations over the course of a several hour journey. It does not take itself seriously, even in it's serious moments, but that doesn't mean it lacks heart. I would compare it's tone to that of the Muppets, overall silly with enough sense to pull on the breaks when a moment calls for it. Plus it's just a good RPG, combat works fine if not feeling occasionally a tad basic, but the amount of story and side content to be experienced is where the game really shines, you can miss so much if you don't keep your eyes peeled and use your noggin. It's a high recommend for people looking for a funny good time, esp not that it's successor Shadow Over Loathing is out, which is the Eldritch cousin.
Also do yourself a favor and read the patch notes. They can be worth a chuckle or two, akin to the wildness of some Sims patch notes.

lethal league blaze! its like dodgeball, pong, and smash bros shoved in a blender. clear jsr influence, awesome art style, not a single song in the soundtrack that isnt a banger, fun gameplay, AAAGH
the story is a little wobbly if you take it without any headcanons or theories, & there are a couple questionable design choices, but those are my Only gripes. i will shill this game until im dead

its so hard to pick a favorite! probably Tenderfoot Tactics, an open world tactics game where you play a band of goblins fighting for the freedom of the archipelago from a tyrannical fog seeping in through faeweed. it has the deepest mechanics of any tactics game ive played.
i also have been loving dwarf fortress but im new and bad at it lol
Cassette Beasts is a newer one ive been enjoying, its like pokemon but better and has monster fusion
