For me it's mainly because there's no element of having to re-take pictures over and over again. You can't really get a bad picture on film, even if it's a little under or over exposed or there's motion blur. Doing metering by hand is fun too. I have a Nikon F, an EM, and a $2 Kodak that all use 35mm film. This one is from the EM

I shoot a lot on instant film, does that count? I used to shoot only on instax wide film, but recently I got a Polaroid I-2 and have been growing to really fall in love with Polaroid film too.
I also got this teeeeeny tiny polaroid camera, the polaroid go, that takes the smallest instant photos in the world atm, even tinier than instax mini! They are so incredibly tiny and it makes it really easy to keep a camera like that in my purse and just spontaneously shoot whenever :)
I have scans of some of my photos on my blog, I'm gonna try to add more soon

i know this post is suuuper old, but i recently got into photography (in 2022) and back in september 2023 i got into a film photography class at my high school!! it's suuper fun and we shoot with the Pentax K1000, which many of them being ex-police cameras. the camera i shoot with is both the Minolta F15 BF from some time in the 90s, and the Canon SureShot 115 from 2005 i believe? i primarily use digital as it's cheaper and i have more digital cameras, but film still has a place in my heart <3

EI think that most of the time the part I like most about a film is the photography and the scenery... When I'm somewhere beautiful and with good energy, my only wish is for my eyes to be like cameras and photograph everything I can see.all the magic and essence of the passage.I think about how I would like to put together a short film with just beautiful landscapes and light music in the background, that would bring me peace.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to get back into photography. I grabbed my old camera out of storage (Canon Powershot SX130 IS), and I fully expected to be disappointed by the image quality compared to what my phone can capture, but it has held up quite well over all these years. It's been a great way to explore/travel locally in search of landmarks to snap. I just keep a bunch of pins on my map app of interesting looking spots I drive by and then on the weekend pick some at random to visit. Keeps me on a healthy sleep schedule too since I usually have to get up early for golden hour

Yes!!! I just started working with film again after a very long break!
I took darkroom classes in college and learned how to print and process my own film, but now I have a local shop that can do it for me
I'm more active on IG as JustJesscaa and RedPanda_Photography

I'm doing film photography rn for one of my classes and tbh its pretty fun! While the developing process seemed overwhelming at first, it made me respect the craft even more. Starting the class opened me to photography in general (i.e. digital, instant) so yea... photography ftw :D

Yes, I need to go back to shooting in black and white 35mm. I want to develop my film now, but I’m currently at the dorms and don't want to bother my roommates, so I'm just sticking to my DSLR. :v/

i'm a huge film photography enjoyer. i've got a Minotla X-700, a Minolta SR-7, a Praktica PL Nova 1, a Kodak Brownie from 1916, and several lenses for all of the SLRs.
i'm also looking to get into vintage digital photography (late 90s, early 2000s) so i bought a Minolta DiMAGE S404 which will be here in about a week.
here's some of my work on film though for anyone who is curious:

Hi everyone. I know pretty much nothing about film photography and I want to get into it. What kind of camera should I get? I've looked into a lot of devices and I must say that I think the Polaroid spectra camera looks very good, but I hear it's discontinued.
Should I look for a standard film camera or should I stick to instant photography? If so what camera should I look for?
Thank you!

tbh I don't know anything about cameras, but it was my childhood dream, so I'm just having fun. also in my personal collection there are instant cameras like iconic Polaroid 636 and recently released Fujifilm instax 40. besides, I am currently restoring a VHS Panasonic NV-A5EN

Yes! I built my own film camera a while ago with one of those cheap kits you can find in places like bookshops. I took a tonne of photos on black and white film but still need them developed lmao. I haven't done a lot but I do adore it :)

Big fan here. My dad is a professional photographer and he taught me most of what I know, so I'm super grateful. Now that I have a full time job/career, I can actually afford to get film! I think I have one roll that I need to send in to get developed - In college I actually took a black and white film course (crazy!) and learned how to develop, but it's such a process--especially in an apartment--that it'll be a lot easier to just send it somewhere.
