Forum: Food and Restaurants

I miss being in the office. Me and my co-workers would always exchange teas and cookies and stuff every morning. It was a good way to bond. But now I'm working from home and you all are part of my office!

What's your favorite hot beverage?ย
Do you enjoy any special snacks along with it?
Share your favorite coffee shop pairings or any recipes you think would help spice up a morning routine.ย

One of my favorites is this creme brulee teaย . I pair it with ginger snaps!

If I'm having a coffee I like to keep it simple with a cappuccino usually.ย

Enjoy the photo below from a tea party I had with my friends a few years ago. I wish more ppl had tea parties xD.

we didn't have a group thing like that in my office, but i still miss everyone standing around in the break room getting their tea/coffee in the morning and making small talk. :(

my favorite hot drink is probably a chai latte - i don't drink coffee much.

I prefer my coffee in cold brew form. I bought a huge glass pitcher with a spout on it and large mesh reusable bags so I make a batch for the week and fill up a cup every morning. I like it with some stevia sweetener and a splash or two of Silk oatmeal cookie flavor oat milk creamer (it's so good).

I do also like hot matcha lattes and chai tea. Any dark and spicy tea I love. I don't usually eat it with things though.

Ooh I love brownies but a bit sweet and rich for me in the morning.

I just ordered some red tea off of republic of tea. I had a sample and it was quite pleasant. Perfect for an afternoon treat.ย

I love all coffee. Iโ€™ve recently started playing around with different recipes and flavors and itโ€™s been a lot of fun.ย

I forgot how much I really like hot tea until a few weeks ago. I was gifted some really nice vanilla black tea for Christmas and I loved it so much I had to order more.ย

Okay hear me out.

Hot water.

I love black coffee, coffee with cream and sugar and foam, chai, herbal and black teas, matcha... they're all my regular go-tos in the morning.I find the ritual of sipping them and feeling the repeated shock of scalding heat fade to relative coolness in my mouth while I breathe in the steam is what helps ground me and get me ready for the day.

And then one day I forgot to actually put anything in the hot water, and didn't realize until I was 1/4 of the way through. Turns out, it worked pretty much the same. Turns out half the time I just want the feeling of drinking something hot more than the flavor of it.

@Calliopeย  lol I think I've done that but only took 2 sips to realize. I like my teas extra spicy and full of tannins. There's definitely a difference.ย

I was reluctant to buy a Tassimo because of the plastic waste, but my mum ended up buying me one, so most mornings I have either a latte or a regular black coffee from that thing.ย

As for tea, being English it's usually a cup of regular-ass black tea with milk.ย

I also have a grinder and one of those plastic cones that holds a sheet of filter paper over the mug, but since it takes a full ten minutes to make a single cup of coffee that way, I only really use it when I feel like really treating myself.

Happy to be in a tea room.

Everything is locked down here in the UK at the moment so can't go and sit for a tea/coffee, it's just takeaway service.
Just yesterday I was thinking how I regret not going for a spontaneous indoor coffee! Especially with how horrendous the weather is here at the moment and how much I want to escape my house.
Making it a goal to go through coffee shop menus and always order something different! =]

Funny the things you miss...

I'm actually not a big coffee drinker. I prefer tea. I love all kinds of tea, but Chai is my favorite. I'm a huge lover of cinnamon flavor anyway. If it's morning time, I'll sometimes eat a blueberry bagel with it. I prefer loose leaf based teas. For coffee, on the instances that I indulge in it, I have to have it ultra light with tons of cream, and at most, one packet of sugar; unless I'm eating something sweet with it, then I won't add any kind of extra sugar.ย

Hot drinks is kind of my thing lol, i have hot drinks all day during the cold months to the point that i rarely drink water at home. I make french press coffee with fresh ground beans every morning not even because Iโ€™m a real coffee snob but because i just like the ritual of it and honestly just the aesthetic. Iโ€™ve been making mulled apple cider on the stove by the cup all fall and winter to have during the day. When i was in college i lived near a really good chocolate store that sold hot coco mix, i drank that all the time with heated up milk on the stove like a fancy lad, but i canโ€™t have that anymore so the cider replaced it. i also enjoy loose leaf tea that i make in another smaller french press, although Iโ€™m looking to get into gong fu brewing with a gaiwan. I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m super good at making tea but i enjoy it anyways. Recently Iโ€™ve been going to bed with a cup of sleepytime tea, Iโ€™m planning on planting up a herbal tea garden this spring so i can make my own blends. Iโ€™m planning for chamomile spearmint and sage at the moment until i can make space for more haha.

My all time favorite coffee and has been for 15 years! ( I feel old saying that now ) ย but it is Barneyโ€™s coffee and tea co. Santaโ€™s white Christmas. ย It is an amazing coffee thereโ€™s nothing like it and it is also priced fair. Itโ€™s a medium roast coconut caramel and vanilla. I like to brew it into a large mason jar with a sweet cream creamer and a hint of sugar and put the jar overnight in the fridge. Next day either turn into a frappe with blending it in with ice and lining the cup with some caramel drizzle and a little chocolate drizzle as well. Or will just pour over ice with caramel drizzle and drink as is. Itโ€™s deff. A delight year round!!! If ur in the south they have it in stores like Publix during Christmas or year round online at bar eyes website. But other than that I like me a chai latte or boba with chai lol

I've gotten into making coffee, I bought some of those flavor syrups and I like experimenting with amounts. Since coffee doesn't really wake me up and its more the sugar that gives me energy and only really makes me dream more if I drink it before bed (thanks adhd), sometimes I'll mix the leftovers with warm milk and honey at nightย

there's a local coffee shop I go to all the time that I really love too, it's a small family owned business and always has a great atmosphere and a good selection of coffee and tea! I like to go in and do schoolwork thereย

I'm such a freak, I never get thirsty. I eat stew for breakfast so I
guess I have enough water in my system. Whenever I try making tea I
don't finish it quickly enough and it gets mouldy, eugh. I do sometimes
take coffee when I didn't sleep well. That's all, though.

I think tea parties are super cute. I had a couple of southeast Asian housemates in England who thought it was weird that everyone in England automatically went to booze for social stuff, they said they're used to having tea together instead.

I recently discovered my love for tea. I'm 29 and I've spent my whole life just drinking sweetened iced tea. I didn't really understand the appeal of any type of hot tea until a few months ago.

Now, tea is something I'm indulging in regularly, mostly at night. I prefer cold beverages in the morning since warm beverages make me sleepy no matter the caffeine content therein so I drink my teas at night, when the kids have gone to bed and I've got a quiet and warm house. My latest go-to has been this pomegranate-aรงai berry hibiscus green tea I get at Aldi, the Benner brand teas. Fantastic. It smells like a blueberry muffin in the package and the coloration while it steeps is beautiful. It tastes like a fruity-floral dream. My morning beverage is always an iced coffee of some sort and I always have a creamer to go in it. Usually, I'm stuck on a caramel creamer but this week, I went with a classic french vanilla (because it's all the Family Dollar had in terms of a liquid creamer.)

I wish tea parties were a thing more often where I live. We've been avoiding anything at my house with strangers in light of the pandemic but my kids got their second shots nearly two weeks ago (it'll be two weeks on this upcoming Monday) and we're gonna start throwing our own tea parties from now, on! If someone else won't do it, hell, I will!

I hate sleeping but I look forward to waking up every morning to brew a lovely cup of coffee! Sadly, Iโ€™m unable to have the specialty drinks I grew to love due to a disease that makes me limit my intake of certain things, but my favorite thing to drink now is a dark roast with honey and little bit of vanilla almond milk! Sooooo tasty.
