There are two artists that come to mind for me: Third Eye Blind and Owl City. My dad was listening to Third Eye Blind's first album and I remember him showing me the lyrics in the little booklet that came with the CD case. That cemented in my mind that music was more than just making rhymes, but also told stories.

Owl city was interesting to me because of a reaction from a fellow classmate. I remember back in 2009 our instructor would let us listen to whatever music we wanted, and she asked if we could put owl city's latest album on (ocean eyes, which released June 2009). The album was pretty good, but i remember her excitement when listening to Owl City. My favorite band released an album in the same year (Third Eye Blind's URSA Major) but i wasn't as excited and didn't even think of suggesting my music to everyone. She showed me not to be ashamed of the music you listen to, and to expand my horizons when it comes to music.

The Beatles, easily. They were 100% the gateway to all the artists i listen to today, one way or another. I'm heavily influenced by their chord progressions in particular, that minor fourth gets me every time.

If it weren't for Fall out boy I don't think I would like the stuff I do know, well there are other artists that have helped me Branch out a bit, example Nirvana for getting me into grunge, Pink Floyd for getting me into older music, Jimmy eat world etc

Mostly just saying it all started with fall out boy

For me, it was video game OSTs, such as NFSU2 and NFSMW (2005) soundtracks.

Later, I liked "local mainstream" rock bands, such as Charlie Brown Jr., CPM 22, Matanza (the brazilian countrycore band, not the spanish metal one) and Raimundos.

Some alt rock/nu metal bands, such as 3DG and LP (before the 2007 album)

I've been into music probably since I was 4, but what reaaallyy got me into listening to more music was probably King Crimson, opened me up to prog rock and I STILL adore them to this day (think I discovered them in 2017?)
