Nintendo DS and all its following systems (except 2DS). I am going to say the 3DS is the best of all DS models because its most easily modified and can play more games. The DS flips open, its dual screen and is very easy to play; it fits perfectly in your hand. It is durable, portable, and the cartriges are the perfect size. not so big its hard to carry a bunch, but not so small its hard to handle. it has awesome multiplayer capabilities, and some very fun nostalgic softwares like pictochat and flipnote. I need nintendo to return to the DS and bring it back, keep producing them

I recently got around cracking my 3DS and it has been a nice experience so far! It's the only one I got at the moment so it's my current favorite by technicality. I'll never forget my old childhood PSP tho, it was stolen a few years ago with two original games in the case, not my best day!

For me it probably has to be the Gameboy line. The OG brick, the color, or the SP. They're just so easy to use one handed.

Blackberry bold 9000. I know its not a console per se but it has been with me for a long time and thanks to its brawny cpu its capable of nes emulation, watching videos, playing videos, net surfing pretty well even to this day and other phone things. I know its not a great gaming console or multimedia machine but the best portable is the one you have on you at the time, I just happened to have really bad luck with my ratchet terrible 3ds constantly having charging problems

For me it's between the PSP and the DSi. My PSP got stolen when our apartment at the time was robbed, but I have very fond memories of playing Lego Star Wars and Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron on it. It was white Darth Vader edition too (I was a huuuuge Star Wars fan back then xP). The DSi I remember taking pictures everywhere I went, carrying New Super Mario Bros. and Pokemon Black 2 wherever I went. Flipnote Studio was a huge part of my childhood as well, and what made me want to become an artist.
Nowadays though I have a modded 3DS and a Steam Deck, and I adore both of them <3

Definitely the PSP, such a good library, it has my favorite Monster Hunter and Metal Gear Solid game (Freedom Unite and Peace Walker). Some other great titles: Wipeout Pure, Armored Core 3 Portable, Daxter, The 2 GoW games, Tekken 5, Ace Combat X and Burnout Legends. It can also play PS1 games! I like to play Silent Hill, Ace Combat 3, Tenchu and Resident Evil 2 on it.

The DS/3DS was the one I grew up with and to this day still own and play on. As much as I use my switch, I miss the advantages that DS's have in comparison.

Game Boy Advance SP.Β It's the ultimate handheld.Β It has a backlit screen, it folds in half to protect the screen, a rechargable battery, and it plays all Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games.Β It's all you need.Β There's even repro carts with every NES game and every Sega Master System game to add to the library.Β Sure they're illegal, but who else is rereleasing those older titles?Β Also love the recent colorization projects of all the old Game Boy games.Β I wish i had those hacks when I was a kid.Β Would have blown my mind back then.Β

PSP is good but the Vita is the PSP on crack, PSP had middling first party support but the Vita had 0, PSP had okay third party support but the Vita is an indie and 3rd party beast thanks to it being a pretty young and easy to develop for console, being well supported until 2017 or so not to mention the fact you can mod it for free and turn it into a PSP if you dont like the Vitas library somehow, and lets be honest; you are going to pirate the fuck out of the Vita's library.
Its build quality, screen and size is far superior to every other handheld I've used, at least the 1k.
3ds is small, flimsy, uncomfortable and lacks dual analogue but its excellent first party games makes me love it. Switch feels like a fisher price toy and is too massive to be actually portable + poor battery + joycons + trash ui + paid online, I dont like this console one bit but I dont have too much experience with it.
The Vita doesn't look too great on paper tbh but what it does really matters to me, it just feels so slick and nice to use, its built really well which a lot of handhelds forget to do which is weird since it is literally the controller, you will be interfacing with it 100% of the time so if it creaks and feels like its gonna bend and has open seams for dust to get under the screen [looking at you PSP!] then its gonna bother me for the entire duration of me using the console [seriously, the only PSP worth owning is the 1k if you value your handhelds not feeling like a bootleg of the supposed real one]
Vita is just the full package, it doesnt get new releases officially but its backlog of incredible and not even that old games + what the homebrew guys and gals managed to whip up [like half life WITH WORKING ONLINE MULTIPLAYER] more than makes up for it, it took me a looooong time to put a dent in the PSP's library so I'm confident I wont need to change from the vita in an even longer time! I fucking love the Vita

hard choice, but my fav is the ps vita with the 3ds being a VERY close second. the vita is just so insanely underrated!! while the first-party support wasn't anywhere near as good as the 3ds, i think it makes up for it in form factor, graphical capability, and the solid amount of third-party/homebrew support.
slightly unrelated, but i kinda hate how handhelds have been getting bigger recently. part of the reason why i love the 3ds and vita so much is bcs they're only slightly bigger than my phone. as much as i think the switch is awesome, i can't help but wish it was smaller. according to the leaks, the switch 2 is gonna be even bigger than the first. while i'm still very excited, it looks like i may have to get a bigger purse. xD

My first was the GBA, but I have more memories with the DS.
I believe it was a hand me down from one of my uncles and I would play Pokemon and Oregon trail on it.
I also downloaded flipnote studio but I don't remember animating anything.
I lost it years ago, but nowadays I can just use my hacked 3DS.
