mine are kinda all over the place but i'd recommend:
Percy Jackson and the Olympians, House of Olympus, and Trials of Apollo if you like more modern-day humorous stories. these series talk about greek mythology while making it funny and more appealing to teens/tweens, but this doesn't mean that it can't be enjoyed by all ages.
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West if you are a fan of the wizard of oz, or enjoyed the musical/movie. the book is what inspired both of these adaptations, and is *very* nsfw /freaky. it has many similarities to these adaptations, but also many differences. this book has slight wlw love in it (#gelphie) and other tropes like love triangles.
The Hunger Games if you like dystopian/futuristic novels. this series has to be one of my all-time favorites (also very heartbreaking T-T) and is definitely a good read. i'm not the biggest fan of the prequel, but its still good, and the others are amazing, so I really recommend.
thank you for coming to my ted talk lol

In all honesty, I'd recommended The Uncensored Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. It's a version of the original that adds content that was originally censored and it's a testement to Oscar Wilde's legacy. I read that during my first semester at college and it changed my brain chemistry.

Some of my favorites over the years have been:
• "Leaving Atlanta" by Tayari Jones
• "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak
• "A Wild Sheep Chase" by Haruki Murakami
"Leaving Atlanta", although fiction, is based on the terribly true events of the child murders in Atlanta in the late 1970s/early 1980s. This book (a little under 300 pages long) is split up into 3 parts, each part following the POV of a different 5th grader living through these times. It brought tears to my eyes, and I still think about it every now and again despite not having read it in 5+ years.
"The Book Thief" is a widely-loved story and there's no doubt as to why it's adored so much. It has been my favorite book since reading it over 10 years ago. The book follows a young girl, Liesel, who is living in Nazi Germany during WWII, although Liesel isn't the narrator. I won't spoil who the narrator is because I loved the thrill of realizing whose voice I was reading. (Don't worry, the narrator is revealed literally 2 pages into the book LOL.) It's a little over 500 pages, but it doesn't feel that long at ALL to me because I find the pacing to be fantastic.
"A Wild Sheep Chase" falls into the magical realism genre. It follows an unnamed man who ends up on a strange journey with his girlfriend to look for a sheep. I can't recount many details from memory, but I remember feeling that way even while I was actively reading it; this book feels like a dream in the sense that when you're trying to recount the events from a dream, you just...can't...even if you feel like you have an overall knowing of what the dream was about. What I do remember was not being able to put it down once I reached the last 50-100 pages or so. It was absolutely wild and weird, and I really enjoyed having my imagination being thrown around.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven!
here the synopsis: Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.
Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.
When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.
I cried so much with this book, it's soooo good!!

I recently finished 1984 by George Orwell and I would HIGHLY recommend it if you are a fan of dystopia. A fictional country that is ran on censorship.
One book I love is a graphic novel but I believe it is a very influencial peice of media. That being, Watchmen by Alan Moore. A great take on the politics of the 80s that still holds up today.

I recently finished Once upon a broken heart and it was really enticing. The story drew me in and I could not put the book down - it's a fantasy mixed with a tad bit of romance and heated scenes (nothing crazy) as well as mystery and plot twists!! So if that's your cup of tea, give it a read when you got time.
