I absolutely adored the book "Lovely War" by Julie Berry. Amazing story, I highly recommend.

It's a historical romance based in Europe during WWI.

Oh and it's narrated by Greek gods/goddesses.

BOOKS I LOVEEEEE!

Ok so all these books are by the same author; Leah Thomas (my favorite author)!! Please note: these books do contain some dark topics!

1. Because You’ll Never Meet Me (book 1 of 2)

The story is about two teen boys on opposite sides of the world communicating by letters (that’s how the chapters are written; kinda like letters)! If you’re a fan of fiction, friendship, and drama then you’re in for a treat!

2. Nowhere Near You (book 2 of 2)

3. When Light Left Us

Okay this book contains very heavy topics YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! The story is very melancholy. But Yayy there’s an lgbtq kid in here (I love inclusive books like this)!! If you’re okay with very heavy topics then I’d definitely recommend this book to you!!

Have fun reading!!

Johnny Got His Gun is probably my favourite traditionally published book. It's... an experience, and its writing style might not be for everyone, but I really really like it.

My favorite book of all time, White Nights, written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. White Nights is a very short book (you can finish it in less than a day), but the scars it leaves are permanent. The book is about a very lonely guy who meets a girl crying on the street one night, he saves her from a pervert and they become friends. He eventually falls in love with her even when he is forcing himself not to. I love this book because of the poetic way the author narrates everything, the tension between both of the characters and the very emotional moments they (and specially the protagonist) go through.

- Warhammer 40k (assorted.)
- Maze runner
- Blood meridian
- Dragon slippers
I think generally that the warhammer, maze runner, and sometimes dragon slippers timelines can be confusing, but the individual characters can carry the story for me a lot more than the setting.
Please do be aware that the top three entrees in this list should be taken carefully, as they all have pretty heavy content, to varying levels. I like the stories presented in them nonetheless, even if they are dark, sometimes to a rediculous and unnecesary degree.

Pretty much all gay man romance books:

- The Long Run by James Acker

Rundown: Two athletes fall in love after meeting at a party. Goes through the family problems of some of the characters. Very nice read. And realistic type romance.

- Ready When You Are by Gary Lonesborough

Rundown: Aboriginal Australian teen starts to develop feelings for a person who is staying with him and his family. The teen grapples with these feelings as they are new to him having only been with girls before.

- 10 Things That Never Happened by Alexis Hall

Rundown: Manager of a Bed Bath and Beyond type store fakes amnesia to save the rest of his coworkers from being fired but begins to develop feelings for the CEO after being taken care of him.

- The Friend Scheme by Cale Dietrich.

Rundown: Main Character is from a well known Mob family in Miami and he meets another person who he suspects to be from an enemy Mob family. The enemy Mob family is thought to have people in MC's mob family circle to gain information on them. A very big unexpected twist with Love interest.

Recently i've been visiting some old books from childhood I keep cooped up in my room, while some of them are lower reading level the stories are enticing.

1- The boy who reversed himself

its a sci-fi trip through spacial dimensions and I thought it was fun

2- Supers of Noble's green series

At the time in middle school these books had me stressing out on the edge of my seat, a drama about child heros in PA

3- The body

A Stephen King book, but not a horror story. Either read the original or watch the movie "Stand By Me" both are beautiful and low-key made me cry

4- Dreadnought / the nemesis series

I can only speak for the first book but it's a story about a trans girl after she is passed down the powers of a super-man type character and her fight to save the world and be herself. I really liked it but its a bit teenage angsty if that makes you cringe

5- Frankenstein

This book stands the test of time so well, compared to its peers I found it the easiest to read through and comprehend. It's a great story and it tackles humanity well

6- The Iliad / The Odyssey and/or adaptations

I read an English translation of both but its available in many languages. A classic Greek story that has been adapted many times. Has monsters, fights, human moments, grand failures, war. Pretty much all of old Greek stories have several iterations. I liked reading these straight up well enough, but contemporary stuff inspired by the poems and legends are fun too (I was definitely a Percy Jackson Fan and like 300 growing up)

7- Iron Widow

Fair warning for this one, it has a couple triggering moments for some. I would describe it as sci-fi action romance and feminist inspired by ancient China. Enjoyable if you take it for what it is. Awesome mechas, low-key soap drama moments in the middle, and a plot twist/ cliffhanger at the end.

8- The Gate theif

Fair warning it's an Orson Scott Card book, but not like Ender's Game at all (Urban fantasy). When I read it the first time I loved it. The second time there were some eye-rolling moments but the story overall? Kid finds out he has powers, runs away and goes on a journey across the US? holds up

9- One Came home

A western about a girl trying to find her sister, sort of a mystery sort of an adventure. A young girl survives but I won't tell you what happened to her sister, read it to find out

10- The girl who could fly

As psychological thriller as a preteen book really gets. Another super story, except this time they're all rounded up in a weird school...

11- The Namesake

This one is a school-asigned book so I don't know how much I really would've enjoyed it if I wan't mentally comparing it to other required readings. Warning there's a lot of hookups and some sexual scenes. A coming of age story about a boy from the 60s/70s as he grows up and changes. If you like coming of age, slice of life, or media from that era check it out. I've heard there's a movie but I haven't seen it.

12- The girl who drank the moon

A fantasy story about family and magic. If you like witches or high fantasy or found family check it out. Left me with a sweet feeling after reading

13- Blood price

a paranormal romance/ Urban fantasy and kind of detective story. extremely corny in the 90s type of way. probably wouldn't read again but it wasn't bad. A PI who's losing her job due to disability and a vampire team up lol

I'll probably update this later with more ya+ stories if I can remember them

Personally I really, really liked Baumgartner by Paul Auster. I thought it was a very well-written adn thoughtful exploration of loss, and dealing with loss, and it's easily one of my favourite books.

I also really enjoyed the Thomas Harris Hannibal series. The language was simple and straight forward but it was still very engaging and the characters were all very well written.

If  you wanna read a short classic i would really recommend White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky, its just 130 pages but its one of the most heartbreaking and beautiful books on love. The writing is so simple its almost magical at some point how the author makes you feel unloved along with the character lol.

I once read a book wayyyy backkk in the 1990s. It was a book that my (now departed) brother borrowed to me. It was about a group of schoolboys that were getting severely bullied in school. They decided to get their own back by summoning a demon from hell to do their bidding. I won't spoil the rest of the book but it's simply entitled "Toady". Check it out as it's well worth the read ...

Skellig, I remember reading it in Primary school so it's a children's book but I remember it was the first ever book I actually enjoyed staying up to read for.

I plan to reread it at some point after reading a book I'm in the progress of reading but it's roughly about a girl finding this boy with wings (Half bird half boy). I recommend it just being fascinating.
