As of this month, ByteDance, the people behind TikTok, have now made a deal with American investors, Oracle, Silver Lake and MGX. This has lead to a new change in policy regarding data collection. Ironically, despite the privacy concerns being the reason we almost had it banned in January of last year, they're now going to be collecting even more data, including mental health diagnosis, sexual orientation and immigration status.
This has now started a mass migration process for a lot of users, including them moving to alternative platforms or even outright deleting their accounts. I would like to know how you all are feeling about this. In my personal opinion, while there were a lot of fantastic creators on the platform, I think TikTok is kind of on its last legs. There are so many grifters and scammers and the shop has overtaken everything, and it's altered the way many view the world, thinking that what they are seeing is actually how people act in the real world when that's far from the truth. I hope this gives people a new shift in view with the world and it could potentially bring us to newer and better things (hopefully more people using SpaceHey, but who knows).
