PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU HAVE DIFFERING OPINIONS, i want to encourage understanding and civil discourse. i do not understand why people hold celebrities to a higher standard. they are people too, they make mistakes. especially influencers. i have seen time and time again recently where an influencer has done something to upset their fanbase to any degree. i just do not understand how people cannot see past their social status and understand that these people are human and they make mistakes. they are regular people who have happened to have become popular due to having related to most of the online population.
i can understand getting up in arms about a genuine celebritie's actions, but not much more than an influencer's. yes i get that celebrities have influence and power, more so than the average person or influencer obviously, but it does not negate the fact that they are human. i understand they have more resources to understand things (in general) than most people, but they are still just people. again, i get that in our society and age, things can and will be THAT deep, no matter the topic. i just do not get people dissecting small things and "cancelling" people over one action or moment.
for me, its hard to read into their actions because simply, i do not know them, and it irritates me when people make whole ass posts online talking about one action someone took or even an interaction that a popular person had with someone else and reading the hell out of it. i guess it just boils down to: i do not know the person, other strangers do not know the person, so why in the world are we wasting our energy on trivial shit like celebrity drama when we could be focusing on real issues?
again, please please please comment your point of view on this. i feel like i see so many people falling into the category of furthering online "drama" in comment sections to the point where i feel like i am the only one who holds an opinion slightly like this.
