Question about USA guns...

For context I'm born and raised in the south USA, i grew up around guns.

Anyways- here is my question: If the purpose of having armed citizens is to protect us from the government and tyranny; them at what point is it 'okay'  to start shooting at cops and military? 

Like- with the military and over policing going on in several states, would you not be within your right to "defend" yourself from them?

That's what i don't understand about this particular gun argument; where is the line drawn? 

Surely no one would find it acceptable to shoot at the police; and yet we are taught in school that it would be our right to "defend" ourselves from a bad government via guns

May i have your thoughts? (Please remain cordial; this is a true question)

Okay by whose measure?
Obviously, the government would never support its citizens shooting at them.
It's a line drawn by each individual according to their beliefs and circumstances.

I'm from the south too, born and raised. I have enormous sympathy for the pro-gun folks.

The USA is about to experience a serious collapse and it's going to resemble 1990s Yugoslavia and Colombia for the past 100 years, but far worse. What I've come to realize is that this country's stupid obsession with police and security guards is going to be its undoing and ultimately chokes freedom. Your 2nd Amendment rights are actually limited by what property you own, how much firearms, ammos, and licensing costs, and which state you live in. Most Americans are actually cowards who don't even need weapons because they can just sic cops and security officers against everyone they don't like. 

I look forward to people in places like West Virginia actually fighting back against the government. Most of the rest of the country is not going to be so lucky. Not unless Americans are willing to do things that are illegal for me to talk about on SpaceHey. The Syrian Civil War was set off by far less than what this government is doing.
