The Second Ammendment

It's crazy to me that trans people's biggest ally in the wake of the Justice Department discussing banning transgender gun ownership are guns-rights activist groups. Like, it's not an allyship that I had seen coming on my 2025 bingo card.

also, here's my takeaway after Charlie Kirks ...taking out: anti-trans rhetoric is most often a red herring to distract attention away from "state sanctioned political violence."

Who can protect anybody from America's government and military? There are madmen in the white house.

It's not shocking at all. Trans people have the same rights as everyone else, and that includes the right to gun ownership. And even if I hated trans people to the point where I don't think they should have rights, I'd still oppose this for the fact that in the future an anti-guns politician could use this law to label everyone as trans and take our guns away.

In all honesty I'm not surprised that the NRA stuck up for trans individuals, once you descriminate on something so dicey and controversial like gun ownership it completely invalidates ur other arguments to keep the second ammendment.

But yeah guns r bad and need to be more regulated for all imo

seeing guns-rights activist groups put aside any personal feelings they may have about trans people because the second amendment is being attacked really gives me hope. It gives me hope that maybe democrats and republicans across all states can put aside their personal feelings about lifestyle choices and be comrades in the face of our rights and liberties being systematically destroyed.

And maybe, when all is said and done, we don't go back to hating people who have different values/beliefs. Maybe the lesson that "we aren't so different after all" will finally stick.
