An obscure horror game I HIIIIGHLYYY recommend looking up the lore of or plahing is The Path, it doesn't lean on jumpscares at all and just creates a horribly disturbing atmosphere, from what I hear it takes a couple hoops to get working, but the gameplay lasts about 4 hours for a $10 game, no spoilers but it's so good trust

Submachine. A point-and-click sorta horror adventure about some random guy who got trapped in some sort of a machine, and there's like 10 installments and a few spinoffs as well. If you wanna play just start from the beginning and play the main games first (the numbered ones, from 1 to 10) and then the spinoffs if you're interested

my favorite horror game is easily resident evil 8(village) i just really liked the story and i love coming up with theories or headcanons!! (the entire series of the re games has been a comfort to me for such a lonng time!) 

the most recent one i've played is dmc and i've also finished re8 not too long ago!! :)

i really wanna play one of the silent hill games but i'd have to completely get into the whole story and stuff and i think most of the games are only available on the older playstations (1,2,3 not sure which one??) i just really like the eerie atmosphere of the games

I Won't Forget Hue is short but a really cool horror game Id recommend playing.

It's a multi-ending indie horror series!! 

Called, Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk and, Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk.

It follows a girl who has assumingly Schizophrenia and PTSD (And probably OCD) and you play through her eyes, as a voice in her head, in the first game you help her go to the store and pick up milk for her mother. 

The sequel is even better, although I don't want to spoil.

just started silent hill 3 tho and it feels alot better than the 2nd aside from the story.

Silent Hill 2 most definitely but not bcuz of the horro element. I don't get scared by movies or games but with SH2 the atmosphere, story and the perfect soundtrack which has shaped my music taste lmao.  

And the monster design is also the best I've seen in my entire life. There's a reason why Pyramid Head is still iconic to this day lmao. Hoping they don't butcher it in the remake.

i've been playing alot of F.E.A.R lately, its honestly really good. but honestly i dont find it all that scary, i've been wanting to play cry of fear on steam which is on a whole other level when it comes to horror.

My favorite horror game is definitely Silent Hill 2! Discovered Silent Hill back in 2004 when I was 6 and I've been hooked since. That's a game everyone needs to play. A game I think is very underrated is Soma and  At Dead of night. Both are very different gameplay styles but are both amazing

My favorite horror game has to be Silent Hill 2, tbh the entire silent hill franchise (mainly SH1-SH4) are deep and profound artistic pieces of media which are all unique and hold a special place in my heart!

The most overrated horror games in my opinion is Evil Within, and The Last Of Us X-X

my all-time favorite games are the Silent Hill series (if it isn't obvious by my profile lolz X3) 

personally, my favorites are 2,3, 4 (bc Henry is a babe), and downpour! 

I recommend playing Silent Hill 2 because you don't need to play the first one at all to understand it and B. THE SILENT HILL 2 REMAKE IS GOING TO COME OUT SOON!!!

My favorite's definitely Alien: Isolation. Probably one of the most stressful games I've played, so many butt clenching moments. The xenomorph AI also made it a big challenge, and I'm planning on replaying on nightmare mode

Most recently played was Condemned: Criminal Origins. Pretty fun imo but the combat's a little frustrating. Loved the creepy urban city aesthetic, and the crime scene investigation mechanic was fresh

I'd say the best horror game would be Outlast. You can't fight which means you have to hide from enemies, unique light mechanic with night vision camera, and you can look behind you when running. Them chases also get your blood pumping, especially in the 2nd. Hoping to get the spinoff game some time soon

SOMA is 100% my go to recommendation. Everyone should play it. Scary AF, confusing at first but makes more sense later on, and kinda philosophical

MADiSON is pretty underrated (sorta PT esque). I haven't seen it get much attention, which is a shame. Atmosphere was great, and the jumpscares actually got me

Most overrated would be VtM Bloodlines. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but people give Bloodlines too much credit. The story is entertaining and all, but the original is full of bugs. I had to add a patch to make it actually playable. A lot of fans seem to be blinded by nostalgia tho

Best horror game i ever played was The Evil Within, Its absoloute nightmare fuel, quite literally made of nightmares cannonically and i would highly recommend it to the folk saying sh2, sh2 is amazing plot wise but its not scary at all, TEW is psychological and genuine horror, also it survival horror which makes it fun and scary, absoloutely has tons of flaws but would still highly rec
