Skinwalkers

I see a bunch of discourse on what real skinwalkers are.

If anyone has knowledge on the story behind them, and feels it wouldn't be disrespectful to tell, can you please tell the story?

I don't believe in them, but i find the oversaturation of skinwalkers and other mimic creatures from different mythologies to be annoying. I just want to know some actual background because people from Appalachia keep talking about skinwalkers when skinwalkers aren't even supposed to be there? Could skinwalkers and other mimic-creatures be related?

Share your thoughts! :)

It's really hard to know about their origins since traditional navajo
people don't like to share information about skinwalkers to non-navajo
people or people they just don't trust in general. From what's known though in navajo culture, skinwalkers are actually evil witches that can either turn into or possess humans/animals, typically they'll go for animals that are associated with bad omens. Most of the stories told about them will either end with the protagonist killing the skinwalker or vice versa. Some end with the skinwalker being scared away. I might've gotten some things wrong but from what ik that's what the original is.
