What we're seeing globally is typical for the period leading up to massive global war, at least from a historical perspective; personally speaking, I think it's only a matter of time before this powder keg ignites.
In that same breath, I also think that we're still a ways off from that happening. The types of wars that have been breaking out have all been more-or-less between regional powers (with the exception of U.S. intervention by proxy) and have been relatively self-contained, involving only two-or-so countries in only one region. If, and that is a big if, one of these current regional wars leads to an all out world war, it would probably have to be the result of China directly intervening in some way (which right now is unlikely) and the U.S. directly responding in turn, or vice versa.
The chuds are only right until they aren't. It might first appear as though "nothing ever happens," but underneath that surface of nothing, everything is happening; eventually, the built up pressure from these happenings will blow up, making themselves known, and all notion of nothingness will be destroyed by the affirmation "everything always happens."
That said, you can't do anything to change it if you're burned out — if you need to take a break for your health, show yourself some love and take a break.
