best way to decorate a dorm?

The uni I will attend gives you your own bedroom, so I get an entire 4 walls to myself! I plan on decorating using wall space more than floor space to reduce mess, travel load, and maximize space.

My bedroom here at home abides by this rule, and isn't a much different size than my future dorm, but most of the stuff on my walls are things I can't bring to college (mostly bags... I have a bag problem lol.) 

The school disallows fairy/xmas lights, items hung up with screws and nails, etc.

any more (cheap!) ideas on making it feel like home in a dorm?

At the Dollar store they have blue tac I've used to put photos up! For cool lighting you could get some sort of battery powered light like a sunset lamp, or one of those galaxy projectors! My friend also bought an over the door organizer to store some of her shoes and stuff :) Best of luck
