Questions About Neurodivergent Telepathy - Skeptically

Hello there. I listened to a podcast called the Telepathy Tapes whose host teamed up with a group liscensed of neuroscientists to explore the concept of telepathy among the neurodivergent, particularly non-speakers.

She conducts a series of experiments with the people where she’ll give a random number or a phrase to a person and have the non-speakers spell it out. Sometimes these telepathic connections are among family members, sometimes between non-speakers, and sometimes the non-speakers will be able to read any person’s minds.

This was interesting to me. Obviously I’m approaching this increasingly skeptically, and since this is a phenomenon that I admittedly want to believe is true, I will be approaching it with even more skepticism.

However, first I want to know if anybody here knows anything about this phenomenon. The doctors she spoke to on the podcast related it to the concept of sevant syndrome (where someone undergoes some significant event in their brain and can all the sudden speak 10 different languages, or play the piano without any training).

Some Neurotypical people have claimed that they have been able to connect with non-speakers in this manner, through deep meditation techniques.

Does anyone know anything about this?!?

Your topic just BLASTED me back to a time where both my grampa and and my dad were alive.  The two of them would play a game called "give me a color" (or something, it didn't really have an official name) which involved someone thinking of a color, very focused, and the other person guessing the color.

It was passed down to me, and we would play the game sometimes.  One day, I said "give me a color" and closed my eyes, ready to try to guess the color by impression only.  My dad looked around the room to get an idea of what he wanted to "send" and when he was ready he said "ok. ready."

And I SHIT YOU NOT, I saw like a muddy swirl with like reddish and bluish colors in it that all kinda blended together. With my eyes still closed, I described what I was guessing, which was the rules, you had to have your eyes closed until you guessed.

Dad said, "no way.  No way, were you looking?" and I wasn't. I opened my eyes to a tissue box with a blue and red spiderwebby psychedelic swirl on it.  More defined than my impression, but it surely looked alike. Today, I don't know if I could do that with anyone with as much accuracy, but I do have some other abilities that are very strong and honestly pretty useful.

I still have no idea if it was truly telepathic or whether I was able to just empath it.  I wouldn't be surprised if it were just empathy in the nonmundane sense. I hope I could sate your curiosity though, I had almost forgotten that story.

That’s so interesting! I wonder what the mechanism is that allows people to communicate in such a subconscious way!

As far as academia has researched, some subjects were able to communicate telepathically, even when completely isolated from the outside world. They wanted to test if this operated on maybe some kind of an electromagnetic frequency. Like maybe people were tuning into the electromagnetic pulses in people’s brains. But they found that even when placed in concrete boxes where no frequencies would even be able to reach, people were still able to hear the other others thoughts.

And so some have theorized that this has to do with the idea of quantum entanglement. Where the actions of one particle immediately influence those of another without any outside intervention. No matter the distance information was still being conveyed.

In the case of family members, they think that maybe people become entangled by simply living near one another, but maybe it’s more complicated than that.

Some subjects were able to read the thoughts of those they had never met before in their lives!

But I need to recommend that podcast tho -https://open.spotify.com/show/1zigaPaUWO4G9SiFV0Kf1c?si=DdvgvzUKRWyjIQ7YreiZ6A

Absolutely captivating.
