TIKTOK BAN! (Last Update: 1-19-25) [closed]

YOUR COUNTRY BANNING TIKTOK DOESN'T MEAN IT'S MANDITORY TO SCRUB THE APP OFF YOUR PHONE

You read that right, folks!

For whatever reasons your region has decided to ban TikTok off of your Google App Store or Apple Store, doesn't mean they will shutdown the operation and server for this service or making it illegal to own a TikTok account or app.

Yes, I heard talks of the TikTok ban for over the months and even spanning to years and I personally haven't seen it happening.

However, when the inevitable happened. Here are some that you can remember.

TikTok is likely available in other regions. This means you can access the TikTok service from other countries. You may need to use the VPN if your region had firewalled its service.

TikTok can be found in other means aside from the Google App Store or the Apple Store. APK cannot be completely scrubbed off the internet. What is an APK? They're like your software installer for the android app. You can either just download the APK straight from their website: https://www.tiktok.com/about or their Chinese/HK counterpart Douyin. Here are the alternative sites where you can download the TikTok APK:

But what if it's actually illegal?

Good question! When was the last time people seriously enforced laws regarding digital goods. People pirate and rarely are the users being punished. It's usually the distributors who're getting in hot waters. So, there's nothing to worry about :)

According to this news article:

"If you already have [TikTok] on your phone, it's not going to disappear from your phone on Jan. 19 or Jan. 20," Ruane says. "It will, however, very likely disappear from application stores."

Reference article: A TikTok ban could hit the U.S. in days. What to know — and how to prepare.

As of January 17, 2025, the links I provided are safe to download

until any further update that says otherwise.

As of January 19, less than a day after the service went down, Tiktok is back up in the US

( ;⚆_⚆) ?? Looks like migration to another app is unnecessary if you already had a big following in TikTok. In retrospect, this topic still holds up in any eventual ban or firewall coming in your region.

Thank you for reading my post! It's quite disheartening seeing the panicking in the newest blogs when browsing even here in SpaceHey. Even if I never used TikTok and felt indifferent for an eventual ban, I just like helping out to ease out the fear.

This is Rib-Eye Black Dragon writing. 🐲🐲

Signing off. Peace. 🐲🐲

Addendum: I firmly believed it deserves to be here as News at least because of the recent TikTok ban hearsays. I've read newest blogs expressing their worries and talks of migrating to a more censorous Chinese app, which I do not recommend.

Add-Addendum: As I said, these are safe, unmodded, legal APKs. I am aware of the sites that modded their APKs for having premium already activated upon installment. Rest assured. I did not provide a link with modded apks. But feel free to tell me if you found any of the sites I provided as sketchy.

Since they are banning Tiktok, I've been trying to find alternatives and I found the Russian version of Tiktok which is called "Yappy" but I cant seem to make an account on it without a phone number from Russia (and a few closely tied countries to Russia)

I do know about Rednote as well, the Chinese alternative to Tiktok but I'm not interested in that one, I AM however interested in the Russian alternative to Tiktok

I've made a VK account for the meantime (Russian Facebook) because for some reason they accept all phone numbers.

Anybody know a way to get around this phone number problem? I really would like to get on Yappy

Yh'all know Tiktok can be accessed via the web right? It might not be in the play stores anymore, but you can still use the website to explore, comment, chat, like, follow etc.

Who knows - maybe Byte dance might even develop and integrate tools or web use cuz of the so called "ban".

Re: Anisa Mazaki

I haven't seen anyone tried accessing tiktok via the browser because of how short the apparent ban is. Not a lot of people liked using tiktok that way, phone or desktop. But thanks for the input ˙ᵕ˙

TikTok is back for now anyway. The forum topic is more like a guide on how to's with the app specifically 🐲
