We don't even have to call ourselves "starchildren" to acknowledge that we are, in fact, part of the universe.
I really like to view humanity as the eyes and ears of the universe, while the universe itself might not be able to think or feel that is the function that we bring to it.
Everything is always connected, some in smaller ways than others, but always connected.
