Artist's Random Horror Movies List!

Howdy!  The name's Artist, I make art, yada yada.

I'm making this list cause I think it'd be neat to share some movie recommendations for the spooky season and to help give these things a boost in attention.  Plus I want to use this account a lot more.  This list isn't a Top 10 or in a particular order but rather just me recommending things I can remember off the top of my head.

I'll do my best give a brief and spoiler free synopsis and try to mention any of the content of said films in case you have a queasy stomach but I can't guarantee that my memory is entirely foolproof, there might be some scenes that I don't recall that might trigger people so ultimately it's up to you all to make the decision to watch these films!

  • Savageland (2015) | 1 Hour and 20 Minutes | [Can be Watched on Youtube]
-Let's start the list off with a damn good film.  An entire town near the US/Mexico border lies empty, it's residents all slaughtered, ESPECIALLY, the Children.  One man, an illegal immigrant who has an amateur photography hobby, has been found to have been there on the night of the massacre and all blame is pinned on him by the US Media and Surrounding towns folk.  He is scared, agitated, and looks like he's been through a warzone, but most importantly, his camera roll has been found, and we will now get to see what actually occured there that night, and see who really killed the residents of Sangre De Cristo.  After all, Horror has no Borders.

  • Dawn of the Dead 1978 Complete Cut | 2 Hours and 30 Minutes | [Can be watched on Youtube]
THE film to watch for this, or any proceeding Halloween!  Made by George A. Romero, the man who essentially defined Zombies as we know them today, a classic.  The second film set within the "Of The Dead" series, we follow a ragtag groups attempts of surviving these new threats of these... THINGS that are getting up and killing people.  The only issue is, They get up and kill, then the people they kill, get up and KILL.  This one is pretty long and can be found on Youtube if you want to see it for yourself or with friends.

  • Pontypool | 1 Hour and 20 Minutes | [Can be Watched on Youtube]
Once Popular Radio Shock Jock Grant Mazzy isn't enjoying his new assignment, a small town in Canada known as Pontypool, reduced to making morning announcements for this niche community.  This assignment will get a lot more interesting when reports of an unknown virus begin to spread, FAST, and once they find out what the main Vector of Infection is, life as they know it will forever be changed.

  • There Are Monsters (Short Film and Feature Length Film) | [Both Available on YT]
This one is the second most difficult horror movie recommendation and it's mostly due to the execution of the film itself.  A group of College Film Students are working on an assignment for their college and in the midst of all this, they start noticing that the people around the town are acting a little... Strange...  Soon they find themselves having to survive a threat they never thought possible.

  • The V/H/S Franchise
I know it's cheating to recommend a series of movies but it's my list so nanana boo boo.
If you love Found Footage films, Horror of MULTIPLE varieties ranging from Aliens to Zombies, then you will likely have an interest in V/H/S.  A long running horror anthology that recently released it's new installment: V/H/S/BEYOND.  If you want to watch a series of short films aimed at upsetting or unsettling you, then you might find gold in this movie pile.

  • Ghostwatch | [Found on Shudder]
The following isn't so much a film as much as it is a halloween special made for the BBC on Halloween of 1992.  The film gained notoriety for apparently tricking the populace into a panic and making them think ghosts were real and attacking people across the nation.  The Special itself isn't anything too scary by today's standards but it is very good in setting the tone and making it seem like Ghosts are a very real threat to worry about.

  • Skinamarink | 1 Hour and 40 Minutes | [Available on Shudder]
It seems like a nightmare, you and your sister wake up one late night and to your horror, you find that the windows and doors that led outside are now gone, a wall now taking over its spot.  Your Dad is gone and no one is able to be reached on the phone so you and your sister decide to make a pillow fort in the Living room while you try to figure out what's going on.  Then you hear a whisper coming from somewhere within the house:  "Come upstairs."

  • Color Out of Space | 1 Hour and 50 Minutes | [Available on Shudder]
An adaptation of H.P Lovecraft's story of the same name, we follow the situation that the Gardner family has found itself in, besides trying to survive day to day on their farm and clients, a meteorite lands near their home.  All seems bright and normal until the surrounding lands start to become influenced directly by the thing inside the meteor.

  • Exhuma | 2 Hours and 14 Minutes | [Available on Shudder]
and last but not least, Exhuma.  A Millionaire family has started to unearth a coffin of their grandparents, with the help of a renowned Geomancer (Someone who is trained to divinate the flow of good luck of a given set of land), not aware of the inhuman threat that lies within.  Now they find themselves having to unscramble a decades old curse and grudge that is born from Historic National Grudges.
