Welcome to the world of witchcraft, Depending on what path you want to take I would advice prepping your mind and body 1st :D I know that a lof of people will try and direct you to meditation ( or worse a cult) so knowing what {you} believe before going into the wonderful world of uncertainties and false walls.

Prometheus Rising
https://selfdefinition.org/science/Robert-Anton-Wilson-Prometheus-Rising.pdf
This is a Book for learning how your brain works. TLDR Youll learn the eight-circuit model of consciousness

Then there's also
Phychonaught Feld Manual
https://archive.org/details/the-psychonaut-field-manual_202307
Another Book on basics, A bit more esoteric in its explanation but simple enough to understand. It comes with some fun spells and wards.

The Alchemist Paulo Coelho
https://ia801006.us.archive.org/13/items/OceanofPDF.comTheAlchemist/_OceanofPDF.com_The_Alchemist.pdf
This is a fun book to read before and after the other two. At first you might not find any esoteric meaning, but after you read the other two you might be surprised. (I used this to see what I had learned)

The Kybalion
https://ia600506.us.archive.org/1/items/kybalionstudyofh00init/kybalionstudyofh00init.pdf
 DEEP Esoterics

A mild warning
This comes with the very real possibility of bricking your bricking yourself or other serious mental harm. This is the real deal friend if you start feeling abnormal see a Doctor.

That being said if you have any questions I love talking with active seekers.

1. Learn to meditate.

 - Do it daily.

 - Make no excuses.

 - Do not let anyone make this complicated. If it's complicated it's either advanced tech or it's some cult shit. It's literally "just breathe".

 - Thirty seconds once a day whenever you have a quiet moment, even if you're on your feet, is better than an hour once a week.

2. Learn a method of divination.

 - Tarot cards (not to be confused with oracle cards) are popular, and there is a wealth of beginner-oriented material available. The standard symbolism present on most cards ties in with many "western" systems of magick and it will be generally useful for most practitioners to have some familiarity with the tarot.

 - I Ching, the ancient Chinese Book of Changes, is an increasingly popular and quick to learn oracle that delivers clear and detailed responses as quickly as you can turn to a page. It is my go-to when I need to examine a situation deeply.

 - The Pendulum is dead simple to operate, and delivers instantaneous and accurate results. Obtaining a pendulum is as easy as attaching any weight to a length of string and allowing it to swing freely. This is my recommendation for "babby's first oracle" as it requires no study time up front to understand, operate, or interpret.

 - Other methods you might look into include scrying, spirit or "talking" boards (such as Ouija), rune casting, tea leaf reading, the list goes on and on. Keep those horizons broad!

3. Try things!

 - The most important part of doing magick is doing magick! We have quite enough armchair occultists who only ever pinch off a banishing ritual now and again. Books are a great resource (and the reply above me has some very good recommends), but experience is the ultimate teacher.

 - Saw a cool spell in a book? Cast it! Have an original idea for something neat? See it through!

 - WRITE STUFF DOWN so that you can see later what worked and what didn't - over time as you learn more about what works your success rate will go up, same as any skill.

hi! i’m a beginner witch as well but here are some important things you should 100% know as youre starting out that i wish i knew.

1. KNOW YOUR PROTECTION!!!!!!!!!!

know how to protect yourself as you practice, cleanse your spaces and your containers (like if you were to make a spell jar/bowl, cleanse those), dont open yourself up to anything (especially if youre working with some kind of spirit or entity), be EXTREMELY careful with ouija, or any kind of communication with other beings. you can open a door, but you HAVE to close it, because once its open anything can come through. and that IS NOT as cut and dry as you think. also remember not to store items like an ouija in your bedroom and not to have mirrors facing the bed, or facing the door (mirrors are portals, and reflect energy out and in, especially in the case of the door) . protection is extremely important, not all parts of the spiritual world are pretty or safe.

2. intention is important!!!!

you dont have to have fancy or expensive items, ive seen some witches even work with things from the dollar store- setting your intention is whats important. make sure your intentions are good, and you come with a clear head to any work you do. none of the craft has to be complicated! the magic is in you, not in the objects

3. when it comes to crystals

be skeptical when buying crystals- there are several tests that can be done to make sure a crystal is real (many places in store and online sell crystals made of plastic or glass), and dont be scared to get crystals you just feel drawn to. some places upcharge on their crystals so make sure you look around before making a large purchase (like on a large tower) . you can check for temperature (a real crystal will be cool to the touch) and weight (usually fake crystals are much lighter, and real crystals will have some heft, but this doesnt apply to all.)

4. Most importantly

Finally, do your reading- look online and in your local library for books on the craft, try to buy second hand if you’re cost-concious and wanna have some books to keep! check reviews and ratings of each book to see what people think and if the book will be good for you- but all education is good education and dont be afraid to seek education online- just know your truth and protect your peace- if you see something that doesnt resonate well with you, you dont have to adhere to the practice (doesnt apply to hexes and other things like that, always be concious and aware that what you do can be returned to you.) seek personal peace and practice a lot of self care. trust your intuition, but be wise. :)

good luck!

Books!! Books are your best friends, but make sure to do research on the authors you read. There is, unfortunately, a problem with cultural appropriation and just blatant misinformation across certain witchcraft authors. Amazon has a decent amount of really good books on all different types of witchcraft. Also remember that it's okay to not be aesthetically pleasing and you don't have to do anything every single day if you're busy or just feel like shit that day. In that case, I also recommend looking into ways you can subtly integrate witchcraft into your everyday life, witchcraft isn't all planned rituals and spell jar creation, it can be something as simple as stirring some intention into your morning coffee. --

ALSO!!! Be so incredibly careful listening to advice from anyone who considers themselves 'new-age'. A lot of modern new-age ideologies come from conspiracies and antisemitism,,, definitely be careful and remember not to get spiritual psychosis lmao -
