I still like it. Then again I had no expectations for it. I was actually much more sad about the lack of blood in general. On one hand, I'm really happy about the references and all of the details it included. but on the other hand I feel like it isn't a good introduction or standalone product to introduce people to the franchise.
But then again you kinda have to chose one or the other, specially with something as... tangled as the fnaf franchise. As for Vanessa, I just assumed William pushed her into becaming a police woman to help cover up the crimes better, and that golden freddy killed the aunt with his "crash ability" in fnaf 1 & 2. But those are only assumptions.
It is funnily enough a similar problem as the comics. They try to distance themselves from the videogames but end up not doing it enough to be accessible to newcomers. Such as Comicbook readers or horror movie fans.
It is a popcorn movie for the fans, is what I'm trying to say. It fulfills it's own self imposed objective. Wether we like that objective or not is more personal preference.
