It was around 2020 when I really started to involve myself in goth things. Since I didn't have to go outside, it was easier for me to express myself. Also, due to the immense amount of free time I had, I could spend weeks and weeks listening to goth music, ordering gothic clothing, researching about gothic culture, etc. In 2021, I kind of stopped because ... yknow, dressing goth in public was something I'd never done before. But now, I'm comfortable wearing full black outfits wherever I am!
Topic: Let's start some discussion. When did you get into goth?

that's cool! you should never be afraid of what people think, it's good to step out of your comfort zone. people who'd judge you for it aren't people you'd want appreciation from anyway!

I started being interested in the goth subculture in autumn last year but i've only called myself a goth for like 4 months now :P it kinda sucks tho because my parents are really strict and im not allowed to dress goth at all - not even DIY :(

I totally understand that, my parents wouldn't have allowed me to dress in goth fashion if I had told them I wanted to. my advice is to very slowly start building your wardrobe, start with basics that rely on you pairing it in various ways to convey a particular style. basic black clothing is the obvious choice, but if your parents have a problem with you wearing an all-black outfit, you can pair the black item with another dark color. they'll be slowly getting used to it as you also get older and gain more independence

Nice, I also had a tendency to like dark things overall as a kid and so it didn't take much for me to get into goth

I started getting into goth when I was 11 (so about 12 years ago). I've listened to artists both new and old. I tried to dress gothic when I was 13 but my egg donor (who had just re-entered my life after not being there for 13 years and started thinking she could call the shots) shot that down. I'm currently trying to build my gothic wardrobe.

Last year, when I ran across Twin Tribes, I wanted to hear more like them, and I wanted to know whether they counted as a "goth" band or not, so I listened to a lot of videos about the subculture. I'm not so tight about definitions at this point though, haha

Years ago, I discovered Creature Feature (The band, not the movie thing), and it totally clicked with all my other music tastes and my general love of the Halloween style of things. I've been trying to implement it into my life ever since!
