Winchester wannabes?

While most instances of purported paranormal activity are reported by means of the incident/encounter itself, in accordance with the sentiment "where there's smoke there's fire" ,I would like to pose the following question :

Have you come across an individual or group of individuals that claimed/seemed to be in the business of occult pursuit? Not so much in the Zak Bagans sense, rather the types of fleeting individuals one might overhear discussing a strange subject in hushed tones at a local diner, or a man in a trench coat that carries himself in such a way that separates him from the average bar patron. 

I'm curious to hear of your encounters with those who are privy to shadow.
