What's your favourite political/historical event?

My favorite historic event that almost happened was the time the United States almost released hippos into the Mississippi river. It would have been an environmental catastrophe and made a massive section of the country completely uninhabitable by humans as they spread.

It's the stupidest, worst idea anyone has ever had and we were so close to making it happen.

I think it's fuckin hilarious that Montenegro and Japan were at war for a 100 years because they literally jus forgot to end it. That's so fucking funny. I wish they never ended it I wish they forgot again it would've been so funny

"favorite" is probably not the right word, but 'interesting', I'd say.

Two completely world changing events that shifted everything for generations to come from politics, religion, culture, etc. come to mind.

The black death hitting Europe in 1345 (actually, a whole string of unfortunate events loosely called "The crisis of the late Middle Ages", but I'd say the black death was the worst of it).

And the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in 1914 triggering the first world war. 

Either of these events is like dropping a large stone into a calm pond and the ripples created continued on for generations.

The civil rights movement and the other social movements of the 1960s. It's so inspiring to hear about leaders like Angela Davis. 

The Resurrection probably.

The attack of the dead men is certainly one of my favourites, simply due to how insane it is, along with the great fire of Moscow. I might seem like I'm biased towards events involving Russia but, come on, how could I not be? Those people are insane in the head! Obviously they'll have the best stories...

I also think about the Christmas truce a lot.
