Some of the best weird music I've ever found was on the MySpace Music Directory. This dude I listened to for years blew up with his 2nd music project and opened for Skrillex on tour. Skrillex sucks but I'm glad the dude was successful with his then cool Dubstep project. Dubstep is well past its sell-by-date, hope he goes back to his electronica origins @SlothLogic

oooo i LOVE kfc murder chicks!!!

i listen to a lot of experimental/ambient/noise music and atm my favourite OBSCURE artists that fit into those categories are probably master/slave relationship and s.m.e.s - s.m.e.s is great as a gateway artist if you’re into metal and want to get into noise.

everything put out by Related Records from Phoenix, AZ. I also vaguely recall the Portland/overall Oregon DIY noise tape scene being pretty vibrant and active, but this was in 2014 and I can't remember any of those names unfo. Some googling should do though

i don't think you'd call what I make "noise" but we use genuine tape and I feel like it's different than most things. here's our most popular track:

I've been obsessed with yeongrak since last year; truly heady and beautifully futuristic-sounding stuff. Nothing else quite like it; definitely recommended for anyone that digs stuff like Goreshit or Nekophiliac.

Also recommend checking out hatesoft's EP Absolute Purity... about as dejected of outsider gabber you can come by, that sounds like it was recorded in some angry methed out teenager's bedroom late at night on the shittiest recording equipment possible, running at less than five minutes total.

i feel like i am sort of an outsider, making music without knowing music fundamentals at all really, i think innately gives you a naive strange noisey style. growing up listening to wesley willis as a teen and ween demos and some harsh noise tapes here and there kind of solidifies that mold. i guess there is also an attitude to it sometimes too. i really love daniel johnston and lately have been listening to a little captain beefheart and the shaggs and its kind of tough coming to terms with the fact that im also just undisciplined and need to learn the fundamentals because a project like captain beefheart was designed to have polyrhythms whereas the shaggs being kids forced to make an album and being all kind of out of tune and rhythm is seen as an iconic and bold novelty but not really something you want to imitate all the time if you genuinely want to spend more time making music and grow an audience. i also think for me, being into the 90s lofi and rock demo music wave but also being into underground rap and wanting to do that creates a division that makes your work maybe less accessible and more niche, or ultimately "outsider"

i do think its possible that since there is so much diversity and probably a lot more people without the traditional musical knowledge coming to be bedroom producers there may be a huge wave and recognition of outsider music. i guess that also happened in the 2010s with the term "lofi" coming to represent jazzy downtempo nicely made bedroom producer hip hop beats to a new generation but i think theres infinite potential for this to evolve and exist in many different strains and variations.

Bladee - Gluee

This is still one of my favorite cloud-rap projects, the perfect music to throw on while playing diablo 2, lots of digital magic and wizardry to it, whole project is nuts

If u know björk shes been making music for a long time but she does a lot of experimental pop and alternative music. I would also reccomend SOPHIE before she died she did a lot of experimental, hyper, electronic, avant pop. I specifically reccomend her album Oil of Every Pearls Un-Insides. I also reccomend the song Wallace by azealia banks which is more rap but very experimental and also her mixtape titled fantasea is very experimental. Also dorian electra they do experimental, hyper, future, avant, and alternative pop. But mainly hyper.
