I watched Howls Moving Castle the other night but it wasn’t really as interesting as i was hoping. I liked The Secret World of Arrietty more, it was so cute I can’t stop thinking about how much fun it would be to be 4 inches tall and surviving off of a piece of bread and cheese for months.

I was similarly kinda almost underwhelmed by Howl's Moving Castle but I've been on a Ghibli high & watched Spirited Away & Ponyo recenly which are both super cute ^__^
I also quite liked Whisper of the Heart but its less fantastical in the sense you seem to be looking for, but maybe you cld give that one a chance !

When Marnie was there is my personal fav but it's not that fantastical
Princess Mononoke might be up your alley but this isn't a very cutesy movie, definitely for older audiences. You might also like Nausicaä but it's also a bit more serious..

my favorite is castle in the sky!! (first movie they ever made btw, its so good and cute and omg)
also! id start at the beginning and watch in order from there! and, watch the less popular ones too. they're just as good!!
