Tell me about a particularly scary folklore story or creature from your country 0~0

Question

I'll go first ! I am from India, particularly the West bengal province where spooky folklore stories/creatures are abundant. One of these creatures is the Nishi Daak (Bengali for :"The call of the night") It is said that Nishi Daak stalks it's prey when they are alone and surrounded by darkness. It then calls its prey's name by mimicing the voice of a loved one (family, friend,etc)

If the prey decides to turn back around,then something awful happens to them. It is not known what Nishi Daak does after it catches its prey but the victim is never seen again.

There are also a few silly spooks like The Mecho Bhoot (or The "Fish eating ghost") which is known to steal fish from households and be a nuisance to the family.

there was this bum on broad st and apparently he was off some shit cause he kept attack random women in the area while screaming about the mayors future plans for the city. crazy day

The Snallygaster! It is a half bird, half reptile creature with a metal beak and tentacles coming from it's mouth. It is rumoured to steal farm animals and children. It has one eye in the center of it's forehead. The Snallygaster was first spotted by a man who ran a brick burning kiln. It was seen near the kiln while it was sleeping. It let out a terrible screech when it woke up and flew away.
