Hi!! 15y/o working student here.
I work at this food place for a family that I used to go to church with. (I don't attend anymore)
I mostly work in a food truck with another coworker from 3 pm to 8 pm monday to friday and from 1:00 to 9:00 on saturdays for a full shift (we close on sunday) since my school hours are from 7:00 to 1:30 or 2:00 depending on the day (I'm from Mexico btw) but keep in mind some of this hours and shifts can change depending on coworkers calling in sick or festive days.
How is school life while working and are you still getting good grades?
School life is not really hard for me but if I had to give any advice is not working and studying at the same time if you ever got the chance to choose.
I do have good grades and I'm able to keep them since I don't find school to be really hard for me, but I know that's not the case for everyone, yes I do sometimes struggle with large projects or themes I find hard, and even relating or bonding with my classmates since I really have no free time, but I always try to get all my assignments done in time and my homework double-checked, I have a scholarship too so I have to keep my grades up whatever it takes so that implies a lot of studying and not much free time.
There is also the fatigue or stress that comes with working and studying at the same time, but for those of us who have no option, we only have to adjust our hours of sleep and press forward.
The biggest reason I have my job is that I already knew the owner (an exceptional person) and was in financial need.
I recommend having your schedules strict enough to complete all tasks and assignments on time, consider exam periods or large projects in advance, and get an agenda or calendar to keep track and not let your grades drop but keep them flexible to adapt to any work agenda they give you.
In the mental health department, I am not an expert but balance and control over your own body and abilities are essential to not plunge into a depressive condition like I did in the first months, I would recommend looking for a support group, friends, family, even on the internet to help you deal with anything that comes your way.
I hope this was helpful ^^
