Here's a few of my scene/emo fashion tips n tricks:
1: accessories are always a nice way to jazz up your fits and bring out more of your inner scene emo (lol I sound dumb 0.0). a lot of your accessories can be diy, look at pinterest/google for some ideas.. you can literally diy anything... ex: diy chockers, diy necklaces, diy earrings...ETC xD. Youtube probs has some vids of people making diy accessories so uh try looking there? And ofc if you don't want to make ur own accessories- then I'm sure that the dollar store can be useful. You can also find accessories online or probs in ur local stores >:D
2: Thrift a lot of ur clothing. It's cheaper then buying online all of the time AND thrift stores are always fun to shop/look around at. You can find a shi ton of kewl stuff at the thrift shop
3: Make kandi!!! Kandi is very easy to make and you don't need much to make them. Youtube has tuts on how to make different types of kandi, and they're very easy 2 follow. You can probs get most if not all of the supplies 2 make kandi at the dollar store ! Honestly all u'll need is a good durable string, beads (duh), and maybe if you want- get some cute charms n such :>
Thas all I can rlly think of atm hope this helps x3

this person is absolutely right! DIY is so much fun and you'll have a really unique look too!!!!! if ou need/want help with some things, like you want to go shopping, Hot Topic is starting to go back to some of those origional styles. My favorite were the colorful studded belts.
Arm warmers and fingerless gloves were also really popular. The way we kinda differentiated styles in the area I grew up was more aesthetic based. Emo was the darker colors with black, purple, dark blue, white. Scene was black paired with the super bright colors. There was definitely a lot of overlap and really, they are very similar. But in my area, it was a huge deal for emos to be called scene and vice versa. was kinda funny.
cat ears were kinda popular but not super.
little hairbows were also super popular and they may be easy to make depending on what you have on hand. Ripped jeans, maybe doodle on them.
Good luck!!!

hai!!!!! my BIGGEST tip is def lookin for thrift stores esp in places w like kid/pre teen clothes n stuff or kinda shitty cheap accessories (think like, plastic beady necklaces or toy rings that sparkle or those fake hair extensions clips) etc they can help make ur fit way more fun!!! a lot of scene fashion is abt havin a cool simple fit base n SPICIN IT UP w loads of good accessories!!!! like, funky socks can help a ton for example!! if u have colorful socks (think like hot pink n black zebra printed or stuff like that) + cupcake n brass knuckles necklaces + a cool print shirt (can b cartoons n games or like, a simple black top w a cool print n maybe a neon long sleeve under???) + fingerless gloves (u can just get gloves u like the color or w a fun pattern n cut the fingers off!) + skinny black jeans, n some sneakers, n thats pretty much a good scene fit!! the more u can spice it up (like by decoratin ur hairstyle more like it) or if u can wear make up (like raccon eyes!) the better but focusin first on collectin accessories i think would b the best first step! a lot of alt fashion deals w accessories first since a lot of it was created by teenagers many times without access to fancy brands or money to buy expensive stuff so its all ant bein creative fr!!!
