Known as necrotizing fasciitis, is a flesh eating disease, that enters the body through broken skin. It is a rapid progressing rare bacterial infection that kills deep tissue of the muscle fascia and subcutaneous tissue, this can result in death if not treated right away. There’s a multitude of bacteria strains that can cause necrotizing fasciitis but the most common is Group strep A(Streptococcus Pyogenes).Although it is rare and advanced treatments available, the mortality rate is as high as 34% sometimes less. It most commonly affects the hands, feet, arms & legs but can affect areas like the head, groin and almost anywhere else. Most common symptoms in early stages of infection are severe pain on infected sight, swelling, redness, fever, tightness on area and discoloration. It’s best to keep cuts and scrapes clean and dry, avoid open waters. In short, no. There would be no skeletons at the bottom of the water unless they drowned or were thrown in to rid of the body. :3
