massively recommend falsettos if you like comedic musicals that take a tragic turn. it was made during the height of the AIDS epidemic and falsettos encompasses 2/3 of the marvin trilogy (but i have yet to listen to the first one). it's been one of my favorite musicals for ages as somebody very passionate about queer history, and there isn't much of a curve with it being an older musical (as in it's not, like, les miserables level of intricate)
