video game difficulty and retro games (plus the people who play them)

I love old games. They have great music, interesting art styles, and satisfying gameplay. However one thing about retro games that really bothers me is their difficulty. Now this has nothing to do with the games themselves but rather people who have played these games so much they are really good at them. I've seen alot of people tell other games who are playing some of these games for the first time "bro this is easy, you are just making it hard" not realizing that it's that person's first time playing. Not everyone starts out figuring out the machanics of a game right off the bat. Even if you explain it to someone they might still need a few days to figure it out (that's why i'm so bad at super metroid). Has anyone else notice this as well?
