I don't read many books with mental health as a subject, but I thought Burnout by Christina Maslach was pretty good. It's written like it's for counselors or shrinks but it's also sort of about having a job and living in society. I'm mentioning it because I think most people who read it will find something in it to be helpful.
The book gives a specific definition of burnout, then talks about how it affects one's perspective, and how it's caused and can be mitigated. It identifies problems with providing care for people who only share bad times with you, having a job designed to replace you after a short time, depersonalization, and other stuff.
