ok there's a lot of different subgenres of metal out there so there's a lot of variation between these recommendations, but some bands i love are:

band-maid (j-metal, pop rock - fave track is "dice")
oceans of slumber (prog metal, doom metal - fave track is "sunlight")
banshee (trap-metal - fave track is "don't fucking touch me")
king woman (doomgaze - fave track is "i wanna be adored")
powerwolf (power metal - fave track is "amen & attack")
spiritbox (metalcore/nu-metal, prog metal - fave track is "blessed be")
windhand (doom metal - fave track is "woodbine" or "grey garden")
flesh of the stars (melodic doom, doom metal - fave track is "rites")
faetooth (doomgaze - fave track is "glass")
deftones (nu-metal - fave track is "pink maggit" or "change in the house of flies")

also some stuff that isn't quite 'metal' but i still really enjoy & recommend:
truth cult (melodic hardcore, punk - fave track is "hell baby")
dreadlight (hard rock - fave track is "grenadine")
chevelle (alt rock, nu-metal - fave track is "this circus" or "letter from a thief")

and ethel cain's debut album 'preacher's daughter' is really phenomenal. its very sonically diverse, getting inspiration from gospel music and country music and various rock subgenres. my fave track off of it is "ptolemaea"
