so, picture this in ur heads: the yr is 2004. u and ur mom just came home from the mall after shopping 4 new clothes @ abercrombie, hollister, american eagle, aΓ©ropostale, victoria's secret pink, or wherever else teens were shopping @ the time, u go in2 ur room and listen 2 the new hit song by usher featuring lil' jon & ludacris, "yeah!," and yea (no pun intended), u downloaded it off limewire, and u go 2 ur computer and secretly make a livejournal account after hearing abt it from ur friends, w/o ur mother's knowledge ofc.

founded in april of 1999, livejournal, alongside other websites like myspace, xanga, friendster, bebo, and others like it, has gone on 2 pretty much become a staple of the early internet.

but did u know that livejournal was such a cultural phenomenon, that it spawned A LOT of clones using its code and database?

i definitely didn't know abt livejournal's clones, until abt a yr ago, when i was digging down the abandoned caves of the y2k internet, searching 4 what websites were popular b4 instagram and tiktok. but i do hope this brings back sum memories 4 those actually did use livejournal and/or its clones.

if u want 2 learn more abt the aforementioned livejournal clones, here is the link 2 a website that compares all of livejournal's clones, as well as clones that r defunct and no longer working, or transitioned using a difference codebase:

https://en.everybodywiki.com/Comparison_of_sites_using_the_LiveJournal_codebase

there r so many clones, 2 the point where it's impossible 2 list all of them here. but i hope y'all like them.

ilusm and i'll ttyl!! bye bye!!

Yes! And to see how strong the code has been to surpass all of the changes of the internet so far. Like I could go back to all of my old posts still through my log in and it's still there (although Photobucket definitely dents that experience) but my first like drunk dial recordings are still on there...Β

calling into a phone line to post a message online, what a timeΒ
