If you drove upward, space is technically only 62 miles up. In the US that's less miles than it takes to get to other states.

The rate of expansion of the universe is accelerating due to dark energy which means that vast stretches of the universe will never hypothetically be reachable to us even if we could travel at the speed of light today!
