For me, it’s definitely the 2021/22 Europa League Final — the night my club, which I’ve supported since I was a kid, finally won a European trophy for the first time in over 40 years.
Growing up, I had to watch my team sit in midtable mediocrity, year after year. Eventually, we even got relegated to the second division. It was a lot of heartbreak — close calls, disappointment, and that terrifying 2016 relegation playoff, where we only stayed up by one single goal.
I remember older fans talking about the glory days of the '80s and '90s — about legends like Jay-Jay Okocha. I was always jealous they got to live through that. For me, it was mostly just hope and heartbreak.
But that final… seeing Eintracht Frankfurt lift that trophy after all those years — after everything — was beyond incredible. It felt like all the pain just vanished in that moment. We had become a team full of spirit again, a side young players actually wanted to join and not have to go on loan to (Looking at you Joselu).
And when we won it on penalties against Rangers, i was absolutely piss drunk, screaming, laughing, crying. It was perfect. One of the best nights of my life.
