I really liked it every episode was different and I liked the fact that Kino's gender was unconfirmed/ambiguous. When I checked the comments though, everyone literally hated it I was like (。_。). Maybe I'm just easy to please lol.

I watched it when it was airing and while I thought it was fine I also didn't like it nearly as much as the older adaption. Thing that struck me as weird was the decision to adapt some of the same stories from the books in both shows, I feel like if the newer anime had picked different things to adapt it might be remembered more fondly.
Worth noting: Kino being....idk how you'd say it. Gender agnostic? Is true of the original books, too. It's just that the subs for the older anime don't make it very clear.

I actually really enjoyed that one too. Though I went in blind as I didn't see the original.
I also liked the ambiguity of Kino's gender. Though I usually like that kind of thing lol
