Some of my favorite places in our state are (list will be continually updated - links open in a new tab):

  1. The beaches in the suburbs of Cleveland. Specifically, Chaska Beach, Nickel Plate Beach (there’s a lighthouse!!), and Huntington Reservation & Beach.
  2. Yellow Springs - an artsy little town located just outside of Dayton, OH full of shops and restaurants, and home of Young’s Jersey Dairy and the infamous Ye Olde Trail Tavern and my favorite pizza place ever, Ha Ha Pizza.
  3. Short North Neighborhood in Columbus - home to the Ohio State University, the Short North Neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio is a short walk from the campus. You’ll find shopping of all kinds, eclectic stores and restaurants, and more.
  4. Aullwood Garden Metropark in Englewood, OH - to many, Marie Aull was the godmother of the environmental movement in SW Ohio. As both a conservationist and gardener, she loved Dayton and its natural beauty, and she devoted her life to preserving it. Visitors to her former country garden retreat can enjoy the collection of wildflowers, beautiful gardens and natural areas she and her husband, John, worked for years to curate. For decades, this living work of art has touched visitors emotionally and spiritually with its diversity and abundance of floral displays, towering trees and serenity. The 35-acre park has a picturesque creek, 5+ miles of beautiful nature trails, a prairie, and woods and gardens planted with native and exotic flowers. Not far away from the gardens, there is also the Aullwood Audubon complex which teaches, leads and inspires people to preserve, protect and enjoy nature, farming and the environment.
