PJO Series

I've been re-reading the PJO series in lieu of the casting announcement and I just had this thought... do you think the team should have the TV version of PJO take place in now, the 2020s? Or do you think it would be best to make it a "period piece" (I hate saying that about a time this recent but I couldn't think of anything better) and set it in 2005, where the book took place?

I think i'd prefer it if they set it in 2005, it would make the "no cellphones" thing a little less jarring for audiences. It's also just a bit difficult to imagine The Lightning Thief happening in any other time period lol. Not that it wouldn't work in the 2020s, I just would prefer it this way.

With the PJO TV show I'm a little bit conflicted? Like I would enjoy way more and the plot and vibe fit better (in my opinion at least) if it was 2005. But I would be happier if it takes place in 2020 ??? Mostly because I think this is like for next generation kids to fall in love with the series and I don't know of they can relate to flip phones (?).

I think it should be sort of ambiguous, sort of like Diary of a Wimpy Kid. While the DoaWK movies sort of obviously took place in the 2000s, it could still be set during 80s, 90s, 2010s, etc with a few edited out scenes or changed props. I think pjo should be like that. And it could be very easy to do that with the 'no cell phones' rule. If it has music, I personally would rather it have music from the 2000s (the Lotus Casino scene set to Poker Face is a perfect example of what I mean), considering it would probably fit the vibe of the show more than like,, idk what's popular now music wise. Olivia Rodrigo?? but yeah, that's my take on it!!
