Hey there. I'm looking for likeminded musicians to join me for a project I've been trying to get off the ground - The Helium Kidz, a power pop/pop punk and new wave group. I play keyboards and can sing, but I'm looking for a guitarist, bassist and drummer to round things out. I'm looking to mix 70s/80s power pop and new wave like Cheap Trick, the Knack, the Raspberries, and the Romantics with the crunchiness of 2000s era pop punk like Weezer, Fountains of Wayne, Bowling for Soup. I'm also hoping to mix in some psychedelic influences from bands like the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and XTC (in fact, the band name is lifted from one of the latter's early names) in there too. While I live in the SoCal area, I'm perfectly fine with long distance collaboration as well. Lyrically, I'm looking to make fun, happy music with topics ranging from silly dances named after candy like "The Gummy Bear Bop", to love, and just having a good time. :)
