If it looks good, do it. Don't worry about if anyone else does it or even if it makes sense. If it looks good or you like it, do it. Don't worry about context just do what you want in the moment. There are literally no rules.

hii!! I am here with some stuff I've picked up for the years :), in no particular order ^o^...I hope it helps a little!! Feel free to contact me if you need any help!!

  1. Take breaks :) (it always helps me to step away from something I'm struggling with and then come back!! Patience is key, but don't stress yourself either--sometimes art doesnt turn out exactly the way we intended--and to us that may be a failure, but to others it is still a fully flushed out piece!! that you made all on your own!!!)
  2. Use references!!! (literally for anything!! pulling up a picture of something similar to/what you are drawing is SUPER helpful, and it helps you get better at drawing overall!! If you become good at using references, you can practically draw anything!!!)
  3. Draw things you like!!! (What kept me improving and growing when I was younger and still now is drawing things I love!! Make fanart!!! It helps you draw from references, flush out style, study character design and colors and AGH it's so good!!!)
  4. Dont worry about expensive supplies!!! (I use a cheap drawing tablet and a free digital art program!! Ive used them since I started digital art!! Use crayons!! Use the cheap watercolors you found in your closet!! It doesnt matter! Fancy art supplies can be nice, but the more you can do with cheaper ones, the more you can do with art in general!! :)
  5. Thumbnail!! (Draw out what you want to make super small and sketchy a few times to brainstorm what you want the full thing to look like)
  6. SHAPES (using shapes to structure your piece is really helpful!! Build the people and animals you are drawing around a line of action!! Chunk out your page into shapes!! shapes tell a big story when it comes to design!! Think outside the box!!!)
  7. Colors (look up color palettes on pintrest or just pick a pretty image and color pick from it! The key is to not use TOO many colors when you're designing something, especially if they are contrasting.)
  8. Shading (draw a light source first and then how it might hit your character. Try shading with a contrasting color or a darker shade of the color you are using instead of just grey or black!!--unless you are going for an effect specifically w those colors)
Sorry if that was a lot!! No worries if you dont read it!!! I hope it helps!! I wasnt sure what you were looking for :0

one tip that id def recommend is to observe the world around u!!! i find it difficult to search up references online so i observe things in my daily life that id usually find hard to draw! for example hands! during the day i look at my hands or hands of other ppl and carefully watch the structure, how could i break down the hand into basic shapes, what are the general rules of movement im seeing, etc etc

finding the right reference can be rly time consuming sometimes, so i think its helpful to pay close attention to how things look like around u so u can pick up on some details! :3
