If you don't mind Stephen King I would recommend his book Misery.  This is one of his more "human' situational novels. By this I mean it doesn't deal with ghosts or demons but instead is about an author who is kidnaped by one of his biggest fans. It is my favorite book of his and I defiantly recommend it!

The silent patient. its a thriller with some big plot twists. best book i've read
