I've been reading gay YA novels lately (gifting some to my step-niece who came out recently and I want to make sure they're good first) and Ivy Aberdeen's Letter To The World hit me a lot harder than I thought it would. I'm also reading Hurricane Season, which is in the same vein of queer-focused YA and it's good, albeit a little heavy.
Winter's Orbit,
Gideon the Ninth, and
No Gods, No Monsters are some recent scifi/fantasy books that are all great. Generally speaking,
Tor Publishing has been on a roll with amazing scifi/fantasy books for a while now and they don't seem to be slowing down at all.
If more realistic fiction is your thing, Where the Crawdads Sing is amazing. I'm also about halfway through The Days of Afrekete and it's really good so far.
