i think the people who hate him dont really understand his character. most people i talk to about the show idolize rick which imo is the complete opposite of the shows point, the point is that hes a dick and doesnt value life and has a god complex but is getting better and more mentally stable as the show goes on and he realises how he actually cares about his family. morty is one of the more normal characters, hes doing his best and like he says in the citadel trial in rickshank rickdemption, when ricks around everything real turns fake and everything right is wrong. hes trying his best to navigate the universe with all of his experiences with it. what a lot of people dont realise is hes just a kid, hes 14 and his mind is still developing, combined with all the confusing shit thats happening to him and around him constantly, hes going to be a little annoying sometimes by their standards, annoyance is subjective so half of the fans will think hes annoying and half will think hes great like i do. its more a matter of who you ask tbh and how well they understand the point of the characters and the show.

people hating morty is like the perfect example of people hating a fictonial child cuz they refuse to understand them imo, i love morty because i think his charctaer feels real, like yeah sometimes he's a lil annoying but hes a teen that has a crazy life cuz his grandpa is a fcking nutcase, i feel like people ignore the shit morty goes through on the reg that isnt even in the show, like rick drunkenly kidnapping him and having bombs or when he'll js be scary, outside of rick his parents marriage is also a horrible situation.
TLDR;
I love morty!!! I think he's a well written charcater, people that hate him usually dont have good reason imo, and even fans of him dont talk about his trumua enough
