I personally only liked the second part because of Mello, and that’s it. Haha, I know that’s very weird to say, but he was a character I loved from the second half. He’s probably my favorite character in the show itself.

trying to somehow replace L in a story that mainly lives of the rivalry between him and light just made it weird and didn't really work well
the good thing about the second season is that it made me less sad it was over lol

well honestly i liked all of it besides the ending cuz yk. quite hard to see all of that happen.

I get that they were going for a "even tho L is gone, his legacy lives on in his successors" type vibe, and it works okay for the purpose of continuing the story, but personally I would have just preferred L lol

the 2nd half was pretty boring in the anime, but imo its super good in the manga
I barely knew about near + mello from the anime, but after reading the manga they became my fav characters

The second season was definitely a let down, you should read it instead, way better imo.
